Getting Your Saturn Sky Forum for discussing the process of ordering/tracking/buying your Saturn Sky. Ever wonder what a VOMS is? How about an "image", or how cars are allocated? The answer probably lies within.

Fortunately we have very very few reports (if any) from members reporting someone using a knife to cut the top. I guess our thieves are to stupid, or perhaps they didn't have a knife, we have had reports of them breaking the windows instead to steal items left on the seats or floor in view of any one walking by. So always put your items out of site, or in the trunk is best. Looking forward to pictures from France.

Hey Mike, like you I have been disappointed with the government of France in recent years. Especially with their current leadership!! (On the other hand I have been disappointed in OUR government to lately). However, I do beleive that over all the French people still love and respect Americans--I know for a FACT that French women DO love us--As for the men, it depends where in France you go.

I don't have a wind screen but I think I would like it. Actually I would like to have one like the photo with this etching and lit in blue to match my blue car. I hate the wind screen offered by Saturn. It is ugly. The transparent ones more stylish. I suppose that it would depend on the person if it is a necessity. According to those that have one, there is a reduction in wind and noise with the wind screen. The rush of air can be exhilarating.

You are right, I also don't like the design of the Saturn wind screen, but it is probably the most efficient. I really like the idea of the illuminated wind restrictor . This is great to customize the sky for your own.

Hi SilverGT, I'm from Italy and I'm waiting for my GT too.
Ordered... well somewhere between february and march...
Do you know when you're getting yours? France and Italy are in the same position judging from the Opel homesite... the only thing you find about the GT is its microsite

Nice to read you AleGT.

My grandparents and my father are native from Italy (Aosta).
I placed my order when the GT was just available for sale in France (early March). They wrote on my order document : delivery time June 1st.
In fact yesterday I went to my dealer to get some news. But now I start to worry about because they have no any precise information from Opel France at the moment. They had ordered at the same time as mine, 2 units for their show room (1 black and 1 red).
They told me that possibly delivery could be end of June or even early July.
Which information of delivery time do you have from your dealer for your GT?

As far as I saw on the skyroadster forum, this is possible to get precise information on sky order status, only for USA, thanks to the kind help of one forum member. I don't know if basically Opel France could also check the order status online. This would be really fine, instead of getting wrong news from dealer. But unfortunatelly it looks that right now they have no will to do it.
So, I am going to be patient and stay cool till end of May and then I will return there again to press them.

I think that at the moment neither France nor Italy received any GT.
I checked on web sites opel.de and opel.ch and dealers have already severall GT for sale. Here in France, they don't have even commercial booklet available. I guess in Italy they are as late as France compared to Germany, Switzerland and Belgium (which have started GT promotion earlier). If you read German, you can download the nice commercial booklet of GT on this page : http://www.opel.de/shop/cars/gt/prod...ce/content.act

There is also a usefull link given by a skyroadster forum member to see monthly production of Wilmington plant for Solstice, Sky and GT : http://www.gm.com/company/investor_i...rod/index.html . This give some good indications.

As my dealer said, I was one of the first to order a GT in France, meaning I should be the same position for delivery, but when will really come the first batch of GT in France, this is a good question. Anyway, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland are priority markets for Opel. I think France and Italy come after
Do you know how many units are supposed to be allocated in Italy for 2007?

One interesting matter : I don't know when the production of Sky RL 2008 will really start. Does any of you know it and if the GT will also get the same modifications as the RL 2008 (for example tires pressure monitoring).

All the best and keep on waiting

I didn't get any precise information about when... they only wrote "as soon as possible" on the contract, and they told me they hoped to be able to order one by mid may and have it here in june.
Btw I know almost every constructor has online follow-up for dealers about what state the order is in... and my dealer is waiting for the all-clear status on it before getting mine. I'll stop by them in the afternoon... just in case they got some news.
As for allocated units... who knows.
The only thing I know for certain is that the GT was at Geneva motor show, they gave booklets away and so on... and many Italian magazines put it in their buy/sell lists starting from the April issue.

Ok, just went to the dealer today... and surprise! The order was placed, we're just waiting for the process to be regularly updated on the terminal!!!
My car shoud be here around July, first week I suppose, and it should be one from the first batch in Italy, 65 on day one of a total of 200 for all 2007. That's what they say... I assume it should be the same for France.
Now the waiting is even longer than I thought... but I have a reference, and something like a date to look forward to!!!
Well at least I can start buying parts...

Good information from your side. Nice to get it for summer time in fact.
Your dealer gives more info than mine. It means, if they want to, they can. I hope it will be around same delivery time for mine at least. Let you know when more news from my side.
By the way, what kind of parts are you interested in to add on your GT? Wind restrictor or other things?
All the best and keep on waiting

Well I was hoping to add wind restrictor, do some tuning to both engine and exhaust, and some customization like engine and brake painting.
As for the delivery time, we placed our orders more or less at the same time, so keep your fingers crossed and I hope you'll have good news as soon as possible...
We're in this together!!

Hello, nice to read you!!
I'm coming from a Mazda MX-5 first and a Subaru Impreza then, and I'm absolutely not regretting my choice... I wanted to step in the wonderful world of American Cars, customization and so on, I wanted something unusual and different from everything we see in European roads, and Opel gave us a wonderful chance by importing this little wonder.
People who tested it told me it was absolutely fun and fast, great cornering and so on, and even though I know I'm gonna somewhat miss the 4wd Subaru system, I definitely wanted a roadster and I'm happy I made this choice.
It's got a quite rare and special appeal!

I was thinking also of some customising windbreak for a start and later an program from EDS it is the best tuning center for Opel
http://www.eds-fahrzeugtechnik.de/ EDS-Phase 1 CHIP-Tuning für Opel GT 194KW (264 PS)------->228KW (310PS) only with the program...
also an exhaust (found loads of information in the site) with magnaflow to be my best of choices so far...not expensive either...
For the Induction part i am thinking of a Fujita induction system.
For the brake part....i am a little disappointed i searched for Brembo 4 pin calipers and Brembo does not make any calipers either for Opel or pontiac or saturn..so if i will still want to install those lovely red calipers i will have to improvise...
to forget of course the Eibach springs 2.5 cm..no need to change suspenison it is from Bilstein already the sprint type one..
these for a start...
Spiro

Great infos thank you!!
Everyone who tested it told me that suspension/chassis are already good like that, so I'm sticking to engine and aesthetics first.
As for brake calipers... I think I'll have them repainted (there are discussions somewhere on this forum like this one)
As for engine parts like filters, intakes and so on, just remember that the Sky Redline and the GT should have the same 2.0 turbo engine.

Do you have a preference of type 1 or type 2 windrestrictor models? I am thinking about getting one - seems like many forum members like both models.

Just put this on last night. It is version 2 velcroed to the front of the humps. You can leave it on all the time top up or down.

Great photo, this is really killing us.
I really hope that this plant parking place has enough security (dogs, guards) to protect these jewels. But I guess in any case that cars are staying there only for few hours before delivery to unpatient customers (as we are all!!).
