Expecting opel GT

Glad to be a new member of this skyroadster community.

I have ordered on March 3rd 2007 the Opel GT in Silver Pearl with Cloth seats.
I finally did not took the Premium Pack option on the top which means Leather seats + Monsoon 6CD Radio.
As it is quite hot in my region of France for summer, I don't want to boil on leather seats.
I expect to get it at home beginning of June 2007. This is at the moment only estimation from my Opel dealer.
I should be one of the first to get it in France.
Opel 2007 Sales quota for GT is 450 units in France.
My dealer will receive only 9 units.

I have seen somewhere on the web that Wilmington factory is working extra time in order to produce the Opel GT for Europe as the usual working time is already full for Sky & Soltice production. I hope that it would not delay my delivery.

I really would like as all of you to use this wonderfull car for summer holidays.

Regards to everybody from France

Dear All,

Thanks for your nice welcome. I'll stay tuned to participate and follow forum activities.
Sky / GT is almost unknown car in France. I hope it will change soon when first units will arrive in our country and creat as much popular interest as you can feel in the US Sky / Solstice.
For lbsky, You work for BioMerieux. That's nice. Historical headquarter of your company is not too far from my home.

Mike,

Can you ever be nice to someone new? As long as they keep making them, thereby keeping the platform viable and keeping GM interested in making it, does it matter where they go? I'll need a new car in a few years and would like the Sky to still be around. Between Grey Goose L'Orange and Dom Pérignon, we still need to work off my personal trade deficit anyway.

SilverGT, welcome to the fourm- I look forward to some nice Kappa pics from France!

It gets very hot in Louisiana. I have the tan leather seats and think this will be no problem.

I have had 2 other convertibles before. One had black leather interior, the other silver. The black seat would get hot, if no one sat in it, but not bad if you were in it. The silver was fine and as hot as you may expect something being left out in the sun.

I agree with reeded. If GM is going to have a future it is going to have to become international in a true sense to be competitive with Toyota and MB. Welcome and please participate!

Better to France than from France!

Bonjour and bienvenue, SilverGT.

I too work for a French company. I won't say who, except they are headquartered in Toulouse.

Hi Sheenvalley, I think I do understand who's your company based in Toulouse. Better to keep it as secret for US.

Anyway I am not offensed. I know that probably it is a difficult idea for all of you to share this wonderfull car Sky with other countries of Europe for example, as at the moment production is not satisfying the US demand and result in long delivery times on your national market.
It is terrible to wait so long for such nice things.

I also suffered a lot from delivery time with my actual car (I have been waiting it for almost 8 months when I ordered it 6 years ago) which is also convertible but french one (I know in advance that some of you will smile ) : Peugeot 206 CC (the same kind of roof as Mercedes SLK or new MX5). To be honest I also agree that this car Peugeot would not be so adapted to USA (you wrote "better to France than from France"). Just for fun, did anybody already have seen one in America? see enclosed picture of mine.

I am little bit afraid with the soft roof of Sky / GT for safety reason. In any case I'll keep it in my home parkplace during night to avoid problems. Is that common in your country soft roof damages (I mean knife cuts by jalous dudes for example). Probably as everywhere it is better to be cautious where to park your baby car.

Hurrah for Sky / GT

Headquarter is nice place in Marcy l'etoile (see enclosed pictures), small town located 15km in the north west suburb of Lyon, the city where I live.

Thank you very much for your kind welcome. Practice french in Nice on the french riviera, is a very sympathic place, it could be worse!!. The Sky / GT is for sure a wonderfull car for the tiny roads of the sea border. I am fully unpatient to wait this moment.
What is your feeling after near one year driving your sky? Is she a good car for everyday us? I will drive almost 20 000km per year with her.
