It's OFFICIAL, I'm replacing my RedLine...

With Another RedLine...

Let me explain...

I have had my Silver Graphite RedLine for almost 18 months now ( I still have 2 1/2 years on my current Smart Buy) and I have a little over 9,000 SMILES on her and I have enjoyed every one of them but check this out...

When I originally placed my order I ordered a Chili Pepper Red RedLine with Black Leather & Black Top. What I really wanted was a Red on Red and this was not possible in 2007. After settling for the Silver Graphite because I could get it with the Red interior an awesome opportunity rolled along.

*** DISCLAIMER

This may NOT apply to you since it depends on where you live ***

Now here is the kicker, because there is NO SPECIAL SMART BUY for the SKY, in other words the Rate you get is whatever your credit qualifies you for and the Residual comes straight from the Residual Value Guide and NOT inflated by the manufacturer (Incentivized), the newest incentive for the SKY is 0% for 72 months OR $3,000 rebate. This would not usually work for a Smart Buy but because the current Smart Buy is what's called a NON-INCENTIVIZED Smart Buy the rebate applies, at least here in South Carolina the Smart Buy is considered a Retail Contract and NOT a LEASE; so a 24 month Smart Buy currently carries a 66% Residual for 12k miles per year would give you a very reasonable payment, especially if you put some money or equity down.

In my case, I'm fixing to sign the dotted line on a 24 month Smart Buy on a 2008 Chili Pepper Red RedLine, with all available options and an this one is an Automatic and my payment is dropping a little over $100. Pretty amazing.

You all remember that I do get the GM Employee price so this will NOT be the case if you are not a GM Employee and for that matter if you live in another State, check with your Retailer for more details.

I got the green light to do what I wanted, I'm installing all my Red Interior into the 2008 Chili Pepper RedLine like I originally wanted and I'm swapping all my performance goodies as well.

I went to CarMax to see how much I could get for my RedLine and they appraised it at $21,000 which didn't make me very happy so I talked to my Boss at the Dealership as to how much he could offer me and he flat out said he would give me "Clean Book" for it and it turned out "Clean Book" equals to $22,650. I believe this is a pretty fair amount and it actually puts me in the positive since I only owe right at $21,000.

All in all I'm pretty excited that I finally get to have what I originally wanted for a cheaper payment and believe it or not, my insurance drops $2 for every six months, go figure...

Mike of Marlboro, just know that I don't want a Merlot (Ruby Red) Sky so no dumb comments about that, OK???

What do you all think???

BA...

Thanks... I tend to over analyze things and I just can't find anything bad with this deal...

Sounds like an awesome deal! Can't wait for the pics!

I'd still be inclined to wait for the Merlot, though!

There would NOT be such a deal on the Merlot and again, I really wanted Red on Red and I don't think the Red would look good at all on the Merlot (Ruby Red).

Remember I get to see that color on a daily basis on the Saturn Vue. It IS a nice and popular color but I still like the bright red better!!!

Good job BA!! No doubt a few excel spreadsheets behind this one, but sounds like you worked it through and worked it well.

I was actually thinking of breaking out the spreadsheets too. Do you know if there is any kind of hold on supplier pricing during this event? I know it's up to the dealer if they'll do it at all, but as long as they're willing would GM go for it?

We have sold two SKYs on this sale event using Supplier but again I can't say if other Retailers are doing it or not!!!

Thanks for the kind words... The Chili Pepper Red RedLine is IN-TRANSIT so I just have to sign the paperwork by 6/30 to get the mentioned deal and I'll just wait a week or two for my Chili to arrive...

BA...here is the rebuttal (Reed would agree) ..If u would have drank some Southern Comfort with me at Mecca this year...and you went inside the plant, this thread would never exist. Seeing this color on a Vue and seeing it on the SKY/SOLSTICE are 2 different animals. Now that being said...the Red with red interior is a great combo...but it falls short of Ruby Red. I have stated this before. 99.9% of the people on the tour would have traded their cars in if they could. When u get the first delivery of the Ruby RED...u will remember this post But Congratulations....by the way, did u ever verify the part number for the instrument cluster for the R/L?

Congrats on the great deal. Less payment is always great!

I think the red/red combo will be great. I had a hard time deciding between red & onyx when I placed my order. I think any color in this car looks great tho. And....if I wanted to place another order...it would be a hard decision between white & merlot now.

You know, I have no doubt that many people will be replacing their Skys with 09's (I am one definitely seriously considering it). Some simply because of the new colors, mainly the new red, which I'm sure rocks the house. (Any color looks good on the Sky IMHO, really). My problem comes about that, that IS the problem, people are gonna over due these orders, they'll be a dime a dozen, ho-hum..

I am more interested in a rarer color, like that new blue, or even, the same ole white that I looked at a few months ago, of course all married with the tan top and interior.. The white with that combo has an air of ahhh, class IMO. So would the new blue I bet. All I know is, down here with the heat, if I pull the trigger, it'll have to be with a lighter color...Especially the top.. Keep in mind, that the key issue with me will be the brakes, THAT will be the deal breaker if it still sucks.. That was the main reason it killed the deal a few months ago..

I'm sure the Ruby Red looks great on the SKY but as I mentioned before, Red on Red was my original desire and I finally get that chance...

Mike give me a call tomorrow (Saturday) and remind me man. I have been pretty much by myself the last few weeks at the dealership and I have not had any kind of time to do any extra-curricular activities...

This is why I decided to buy this one. It was built on 6/13 so it has all the new "programming" so the break issue should be minimal at best, if at all.
