Last model year for Sky?

I haven't been following Saturn/Sky, but have recently become very interested when I realized that a 2-seater could now work for our car/family situation. I've gathered that it is coming to an end, but when? Will there be a 2010? I'm not really ready to buy one now, would have preferred to wait about another 9 months. I've noticed there do not appear to be many left in inventory (assuming the online search is accurate) in my area. I'm looking at Sky Red Line. If there is no 2010, can a 2009 still be ordered or are we down to what is left in inventory?

Sorry for asking what should be an easy thing to find, but I have searched and been unable to find the answer.

Thanks.

The end was a few months ago. No 2010's. No orders, because the plant is shut down. You will be looking at a used one by the time you are ready to buy.

New ones on the dealer's lots today are the last of the new vehicles. There are a lot of people that use these cars very little, so by the time you are ready to buy you should be able to find one with low miles and an attractive price. Good Luck!

Many thanks for the info. I did notice that there are quite a few used for sale with low mileage, so that would probably be fine. I'm in Canada ... I'll get a much bigger choice (and probably better price) if I also look in the US. I know the Sky is on the acceptable list for import, but does anyone know if there are any mods that need to be done to get it through? E.g. does the (US-model) Sky already have daytime running lights (I know they insist on this being done)?

Anyway, here's what I currently have my eyes on:
-Sky Redline
- manual transmission (will not consider auto)
- exterior colour preference (probably in order, but who knows ... this could change by the time I actually buy): red, black, yellow, white. I really like the black/red interior.

I still need to find one to take for a drive ... I'm 6'4" and need to make sure the leg & head room work. Searched posts here and it seems there are people my height driving the Sky, so I'm hopeful ...

I talked with a Canadian who bought a car in Florida and drove it to Michigan, left it at a dealer there for 3 days, then picked it up and drove it home to Canada. No problems at all he said.

Based on his experience I think you have no problems getting a Sky into Canada

This is correct, as it was myself that he was speaking to.

Here are a few points :
A) yes, you will get a much better selection in the U.S market (ex, price, colour, low milage, options etc) and more likely to find exactly what you are looking for
B) The Sky (Redline) meets all Canadian standards as is. It has daytime running lights and the electronic anti-theft deterant.
C) the only additional cost should be the $200 R.I.V cost
D) After purchase you will need to fax a copy of the title (ownership) to the U.S border point that you plan on exporting the car from. After confirmation and a 72 hour wait you can export the car after they have confirmed the V.I.N numbers

I arranged to have an oil change at a Saturn dealership close to the border, so that I knew the car would be safe for the 72 hour wait.

It was little stressful, but in the end it was a piece of cake and well worth it !!

Just remember that when I did it the dollars were even, so I never lost too much on the exchange.

Good luck and you can P.M if you have any other questions

lol I know eh? It's just not practical enough for me personally. Despite my thinking that I could make it work...I just don't feel it.

Thanks for the excellent info MoonDog. I'm now keeping an eye on US Red Lines. Hopefully the Cdn $ will get a little stronger by the time I'm ready to buy

Hi,
I got a 2008 sky redline in late May in Trois-Rivieres. I had my father in law pull up all the inventory in Eastern Canada.

Just to let you know, VW haut-richelieu has a brand new (untitled) 2008 red pontiac solstice gxp manual for 27495 cdn. Full GM waranty that starts at purchase.

Halifax, NS had the last new 2008 Sky redline manual when I checked in very late May (last 08 redline period after we bought ours).

If they are still available, you can get great deals on 08s.

There really was no other inventory for the turbo 09s in Quebec in late May, though some dealers said they were expecting more in June.
