Based on his experience I think you have no problems getting a Sky into Canada

This is correct, as it was myself that he was speaking to.
Here are a few points :
A) yes, you will get a much better selection in the U.S market (ex, price, colour, low milage, options etc) and more likely to find exactly what you are looking for
B) The Sky (Redline) meets all Canadian standards as is. It has daytime running lights and the electronic anti-theft deterant.
C) the only additional cost should be the $200 R.I.V cost
D) After purchase you will need to fax a copy of the title (ownership) to the U.S border point that you plan on exporting the car from. After confirmation and a 72 hour wait you can export the car after they have confirmed the V.I.N numbers
I arranged to have an oil change at a Saturn dealership close to the border, so that I knew the car would be safe for the 72 hour wait.
It was little stressful, but in the end it was a piece of cake and well worth it !!
Just remember that when I did it the dollars were even, so I never lost too much on the exchange.
