Getting Your Saturn Sky Forum for discussing the process of ordering/tracking/buying your Saturn Sky. Ever wonder what a VOMS is? How about an "image", or how cars are allocated? The answer probably lies within.

Major Dilemma...HELP!

I need some help, folks. I've been lurking on this site for awhile, posting every once in awhile, just waiting for my Sky to come in. I ordered a Chili Pepper with Red & black interior on 4/19 from a dealer close to my old house. They received the invoice yesterday & said it would be delivered on 5/26...probably be ready by midweek.

Well, that was all before I checked out the Polar White with Red & black interior last night at a dealer closer to my new house. Now I can't decide which one to buy. The Polar White is less expensive because it was shipped before the April MSRP increase, there's no upgrade for custom trim & it has the polished alloy instead of the chrome. I've been pining away for the Chili Pepper ever since I saw it, and the dealer's treated me pretty good. I'm pretty sure I'd come out with a better deal on the Polar White, but I'm struggling with my loyalty to the Chili & the first dealer. What should I do? Both colors are awesome (because, afterall, 'we are the Red & White from State'!)...

What a dilemma!!!! Any & all advice is greatly appreciated...

Get what you really want from the start or you will always be thinking about what you could have had and that you had to settle for something else ...

Do NOT assume that the white one will sell at the lower price. I have two factory window stickers for my 07 Redline. One is pre-increase, and the other one was the one the car was actually sold for. As I understand it, the car will sell at the prices in effect at the time of sale. If the dealer is willing to sell the white one for the earlier window sticker price (GET THAT IN WRITING !!!!) then buy it since that is what you want.

FWIW, I wish I had a white Redline with black/red instead of my silver one.

Buy 'em both and don't worry about it. Alternate them like shoes.

FWIW: It looks like rebates are back for retail delivery by 6/2. Either way it looks like you got lucky in that regard.

I'd stick with what you originally ordered. Maybe you could get the other one cheaper but you didn't order the Polar White, you ordered the Chili Red so stick with your inital order. Heck most all the colors look good but you can only pick one. Don't second guess.

Go with the one that you feel a passion for.
It would be wrong to feel regrets later...

When I bought mine I originally 'settled' because of availablility and then (when issues developed in delivering that car) I backed out and subsequently found the exact car I originally wanted - I have never regretted it.

Here's my advice. When the Chili Red comes in, on your way to Chili Red, swing by and have a good look at Polar White. Then head off to Chili Red. When you see the Chili Red you ordered, your dilemma may become moot.

Keep in mind when you are in the actual presence of a SKY, your adrenalin and emotions run high. I suspect part of the Polar experience is simply SKY addiction. And when it comes to the addiction, you gotta compare 'em side by side to see which one comes out on top.

Well...you know how I would vote.

The Red-on-Red looks amazing...and will be very rare (if that matters to you).

Though I will say that white would probably have been my second choice.

When it comes to the SKY it's all about feel and emotional attachment. Enjoyment will come from driving what you want, and not from saving a coupla bucks.

Picture these two scenes a few years from now; an admirer comes up and says:

"Wow! That red SKY with the red interior is gorgeous!" You can reply, "I picked that out myself and ordered it special!"

or...

"Nice car! I don't know about the white, tho..." to which you would have to reply, "Well, I originally ordered a blazing red one, but this one was a couple bucks cheaper so I went with it instead."

Stick with your dream and vision. It is want you wanted originally, and what you will want again later.

Thanks for all the advice! I actually had the dealer with the white one park a red one beside it & I decided the red is still the one for me. It was tough, but I gotta stick with the Chili Pepper.

I'll post pics as soon as I have 'em!

LoveMy Chili Pepper Red!

Glad to hear you solved your problem. You'll never regret red. White is cool and red is hot! Which do you want to be? Either way, the car will put a permagrin on your face. I think John D gave the best advice! Don't look back and enjoy the ride. Be sure to post some pictures!

I was in a similar position when I bought my Wrangler. I had ordered a Blue one. Then I saw a yellow one. Went back and forth about a week before I decided to change the color to yellow. I'm glad I did.

It's good that you made up your mind. Nothing like getting exactly what you want.

Yay...dilemma settled! Both colors are beautiful but you're getting the one you really want and you just can't go wrong!

I wrangled between black and silver...black because, well...it's BLACK! Silver because it is "classic roadster". I would've been happy with either but am so glad I bought the black one.

Enjoy your new Chili-Pepper Sky!
