Getting Your Saturn Sky Forum for discussing the process of ordering/tracking/buying your Saturn Sky. Ever wonder what a VOMS is? How about an "image", or how cars are allocated? The answer probably lies within.

now begins the wait.

well, after lurking here for several weeks i've finally gotten around to registering. this forum has been very helpful for understanfing exactly what it is i've gotten myself in to.

what exactly is that? on june 13th i ordered an '09 sky redline, black-black. the salesman said it would probably be 6-8 weeks before it arrived. i've always loved the old Opel GT cars, so this will be somewhat of a dream car for me.

i'm going to totally show how much of a geek i am with this, but who cares. U-238 is non-fissionable, it's actually depleted uranium, used in tank shells and armor among other things. U-239 is the stuff that goes boom. back in early high school i was really into learning about nuclear energy. i still am really, even though i chose to go down the electrical engineering path instead. the username comes from those days.

and when it does arrive, there will be plenty of pics. there's no way i'll be able to restrain myself from bragging about a ride like this.

i guess this is as good a place as any for a quick bio about myself as well. i'm a 21-year-old engineering tech, and i've been pursuing a degree in electrical engineering part time. my current ride is an '07 civic ex coupe, that is about as boring to drive as you'd think. aside from the sky RL i drove, the most "fun to drive" vehicle i've driven is an old pickup with 4 on the floor and a torque monster for an engine.

I was told six to eight weeks too..recieved it in one month, but i guess since it is an 09, that it may take a little longer...SteveSky67

the salesman said something about the factory taking 2 weeks off at some point in the summer, and said that was the cause of the long wait. anyone know about this?

i ordered from saturn of fredericksburg, VA. (i'm from southern MD.) the salesman was very helpful, and not very pushy either. definitely better than other experiences i've had with dealerships.

so i spoke with the dealership yesterday with some questions about how to use the rewards from a GM card towards the purchase, and i was also informed that the car was still on track to delivery being 6-8 weeks from order date. man, i thought the 6-8 week wait for my custom electric guitar was bad...

So is it just me, or is the last week or so of the wait the hardest? Waiting really hasn't bother me till about mod last week. Now that the car is practically here I'm checking my cellphone constantly to see if I've missed a call from the dealer...

Does the dealership have the car already? If so why do you have to wait for the salesman to complete the delivery. He already has the commission.

BTW - you'll love the car and all the compliments that go with it. Be prepared for people asking if they can take a picture with the car.

Good luck it will be worth the wait. I am on my 2nd SKY. The dealership in Fredricksberg had a carbon flash rl but it was an automatic so I ended up getting mine out of Maryland. The people in Fredricksberg were good people and i am sure they will treat you right

Yea, the good ole days. When you chose the color from an 1" square and some folks bought without a test drive because some dealers did not have a demo.

Oh, and I don't want people to think I'm begrudging this guy's vacation, I just think it's funny that it coincided so well with when the car should be arriving.

I don't know if the dealer has it yet, might call again today to find out.

I would say that both of you are lucky! It took me 6 months to get my Blk/Blk-Tan int. Redline back in June 06.

The good thing was that the Dealer told me that they had a Chili Pepper base model coming in in a couple days that someone had ordered and could not take. So I told the salesman that we would take it. I figure that we could drive it for the 6 months and sell it for what we paid for it, so we bought it. Well we could not part with it when the Redline came in, so now we have both.

I'm partial to the Redline though, so you might want to think about it! The difference in power and ride will make you change your mind. I would recommend driving both, then make the decision.

Congrats to both of you on your new Sky's!
