Redline Pricing

Sorry for this being my 1st post but i'm doing this for a lady friend. She's looking to purchase a new '08 Redline 5sp manual with the Monsoon audio system. We poked around and found MSRP to be around $30,190. Invoice probably being around $2000 cheaper.

Are these cars typically selling for close to sticker, or closer to Invoice?

I don't think there are any incentives with this model, correct?

We're in the NY area.

Thanks in advance.

This time of year - the weather is improving, the sun is shining.
So sticker price.

I am in Westchester, how close are you to Poughkeepsie? They are trying to sell 2 or 3. You may get a break if you hurry. Once the weather stays warm, you will have to wait for next January to save a buck. She just missed a $1000 factory incentive and 2.9% financing ended March 31st!

Saturn is still no haggle. Meaning what the price is on the sticker is what you pay... with the exception of rebates to lower and possible dealer add-ons to increase... and now that they will accept GM points, that would also lower the price. A lot of the retailers work with customers on their trade-ins if possible... but when it comes to vehicle price, they don't dicker.

Go to Saturn.com -- Build the Sky you want -- you'll get the price -- this is what you pay... Now there coul dbe incentives etc -- making it less - but the price at Saturn.com is what is should start out to be...

Thanks a lot for the advice. We found one that she liked and we got some $$$ off due to an option she really didn't want.
Once she takes delivery, i'll be sure to snap a few pics.

I am wondering if I can swing by the dealership and order an 09 model if they accept ordering this early. Anyone know? I believe I am going to get white with the monsoon system of coarse.

Last year, the earliest you could order an '08 was the first week of June. Just in case this helps.

I understand - what isn't to love with the Sky?! I was looking for the silver pearl redline with black interior (5 spd. manual). Two dealerships told me they could get it for me from out of state or I would have to special order it. However, when I contacted the third they had the silver pearl redline (5 spd. manual) only it had the red interior. I wasn't sure if I'd be crazy about that combination so I decided to swing by and take a look. Once I saw the car I realized that the black is definitely classy but the red gives it that little extra sporty/fun look (IMO). So.. if all goes well I take delivery of the car at 1:00 pm today!

What are these discounts people speak of?

The whole point of Saturn has always been no haggle, same sticker price for everyone.

Again, not counting current incentives.

Well with 2009 models coming out why would any dealer sell the older models at the exact same price? It just wont happen. I mean if you walk to a saturn dealership and are looking to get a redline. There is a 2009 and a 2008 model sitting next to one another for the exact same price....which one would you get? The 08 will already have labeled on it a years worth of life on it even if it has no miles. Just saying the 08 model is not worth what they are asking anymore. I am sure if you went to KBB.com and put in a 08 redline with 12 miles and then an 09 with 12 miles....the 09 would be worth more.

Well, you are assuming that the sticker price of the '09 will be the same as the '08.

This is an unlikely assumption. There have been price increases every other year, and with the cost of fuel driving up costs of everything, you can be sure that there will be another increase for the '09s.

Not only will the sticker price be different on the '09, but manufacturers will ramp up other incentives to move existing stock. I would not be surprised if the difference between an 09 and an 08, comparably equipped, isn't one to two thousand dollars once price difference and incentives are applied.

As for the "no haggle" price, SATURN is built on that philosophy. However, we are all well aware that some dealers didn't play by that philosophy when the SKYs were a premium last year. As such, any dealer that compromised their integrity by jacking price above MSRP on high SKY demand is, in my opinion, fair game for buyers to haggle below MSRP.

If you want no haggle, go to a SATURN dealer who respects that philosophy, regardless of the demand. If you want to haggle, find a dealer who jacked the price last year.

On the other hand, if a dealer cannot honor their commitment to the corporate no-haggle philosophy, what does that say about the dealer's integrity. Perhaps the best solution is to find a no-haggle dealership, and do business with them.

While there will be incentives on the '08 models when the '09 models are arriving... the no haggle will still be there. So yes, you would be able to get the '08 for less even if they are the same sticker price, but not because of haggling. If you are trading in, you may be able to get more for it.

Currently 2008 SKY have a $2000 discount through GM...
That is off the sticker... So yeah, that is a discount - but from GM.
Basically -- go to Saturn.com -- build your saturn - get the price and drop it by 2k -- THAT is what you should pay.
