After The Plant Tour Ramblings

OK so I was thinking about what kind of activities might be fun for those in the local area or those hanging around after the plant tour on May 19th. Of course the thought of trying to do something with 100 or more cars just kind of boggles the mind. Then I had another thought based on a thread about what to see in the local area. So what is really in my mind at this point is that we could do a couple of things after the tour instead of trying to do just one. Also I kind of know in the back of my mind that no matter what we could come up with it would not make all of you happy ...

So we could have someone lead a northern run out of the plant that would head up a nice twisty road with a stop at a certain Mexican restaurant where there is ample parking.

We could also have a southern run that would head down Delaware 9 with a pit stop at the Dover AFB museum and then maybe split from there with some going to the Dog Fish Head restaurant in Lewes and others headed down to Ocean City for the car show that weekend.

OK rambling mode off for now and it's your turn for some feedback ...

Did u see STEVE climbing over the barbed wire ...now to be serious...We r going to have over one hundred cars...and if we take the route to the Mexican restaurant, we r not going to make it together because of the lights and the stop signs...something very coordinated will have to be done with CAR LEADERS...remember the last trip...and we had only 25 cars...this will definitely be a FEAT. Although we want to make a fun day of this event, planning is definitely called for....maybe something closer...I am just being analytical at this point. And of course, the parking lot will have to accomodate all of us.

That's why I was thinking maybe two different runs ... one going north and one going south.

This is a great idea, Mike. Since I don't know the area, I'll tag along with whichever group going to Mexican or going south to the Dog head fish place which I've never been to. I think it is possible we will have more than 100 cars since it seems like many people are offering up their passenger seat for someone parking outside the gate or whatever arrangements are to get in. For those of you not on the list, keep looking for a golden ticket.

Just so long as you don't wear that during the tour ... you have read the safety dress code, right?

I agree Mike!

There are a couple of us that know this route now - Tyler, Pitcom, myself and a few others who are familiar with it now. We wouldn't do the extra loop for the covered bridge run.

I was considering breaking it into two runs - we could go by way of the covered bridge for lunch near the PA border, and later we could go on the twistys of rt 82 for a mexican dinner...

Here's what I posted on the other forum:

We could take a twisty up to the PA border for lunch, hitting the roller coaster road and a covered bridge. Later on - go to dinner over in Kennett Square at the Mexican place - taking the very twisty road.

If people are here on Sunday - we could hit more of the other twisty roads in northern DE and Southern PA... I'd be up for driving the Straussburg route that Terror and Rusty lead earlier in the year if they were up for it!

I also am told that route 1 north of here is incredible!

Just a couple more options!
