August Farmington River to Otis Reservoir - Anyone ready to put your SNEKR's on?

Thinking about doing a run starting in Winstead, CT (Rte 8) and following the Farmington River all the way up to Otis Reservoir, we can do lunch by the Reservoir or head up to Lee Mass Prime Outlets.

Nice twisties and very pretty drive, I use to travel it both ways every weekday when I worked in Pittsfield, Mass.

Haven't picked a date or Restaurant for lunch yet but I'm thinking third or fourth weekend in August.

Anyone Interested?

We were talking about it, getting interested, and then checked the calendar - we'll be in NJ the week of the 20th. Earlier might work... (when are these things ever easy)

August 12th or August 26th?

Which is better for everyone?
Both the 12th and 26th are Sundays.

MrSmoker mentioned Berkshire Hillbilly's, I've never been there but there's only a handful of locations around the Otis area.
I know the last time I was at Otis Poultry they had added a new indoor sit down dinning area.

Or we could head up to Lee, Mass?

here's a few links:

Ok how about 10:00 AM on Sunday, August 26th?

How about we meet at the McDonald's on Rte 8/Rte 44 in Winsted around 10:00 AM and leave for Otis Reservoir and Berkshire Hillbillies about 10:30 AM?

We could leave an hour later if that works better for everyone?

See attachments for aerial views and roads.

Anyone interested in NHIS on the 25th and Otis the 26th?

I just got info in from BobbyD about racing at NHIS and track day for our Kappas anyone interested in helping out a good cause?
August 25th & 26th "Racing Against Leukemia" at NH International Raceway-Loudon NH

A few others have committed to a run Devicespy is hosting on August 11th for the Massachusetts Meet and Greet starting in Framingham and for now I'm planning on attending BobbyD's event on Saturday the 25th - anyone else interested?

I'm still planning for the Otis run to leave Winsted, CT at 10:00 Sunday the 26th?

An optional side trip?

As an optional, or additional destination for anyone that might be interested, this is a pretty cool place if you are into this type of thing.

The ride to Southfield can be made from Lee area over very rural back roads that are not well marked or marked at all but it can be done as I have done it a couple of times, just by pointing the car in the general direction I need to go each time I come to an intersection. Fun way to do it with one car but probably not a good idea for a group of cars. I suppose it might be easier to get there from the Otis area, as in after lunch.

If anyone is interested I will be more than happy to do some research to fine a route that can be followed with a little less angst than just " point and go"

Check out this link and let me know.

P.S. Skyman-CT I hope you don't mind me suggesting this. If it turns out to be not a good idea I will drop it.

Sounds like fun Ozyman222,
I'm game if you think we can keep a group together without losing anyone?
ie.. bring your maps and GPS.

Southfield option

I will see if I can map something out from the lunch stop to Southfield for those that might like to give it a try.

Great minds think alike.
Ozyman222 you beat me to it, I was thinking of bumping this myself tonight.

I'm still in however scattered thunder boomers are in the forecast for now but it's too far away to even think the weatherman could know what's going on, little less be right?

Otis

I will post the route to The Buggy Whip Factory Shops anyway, and if the weather looks more promising later in the week, it will be available.

Otis trip

I will be there. Is McDonald's on 44S Main Street, Winstead?
PS Had a hard time find this thread. What ever happen to the Sky Site SNEKR? I check that site all the time, but no new info about this trip.
