Bushkill Falls

Anyone in the tri-state area ever drive up to Bushkill falls? Looks like it might be worth a trip. I was wondering if there were some good windy roads up there you would recommend.

Could an admin move this to the North East folder, i put the thread in the wrong one.

It's in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. They've got some hiking trails for all 8 waterfalls. A couple friends who live upstate mentioned it to me. I'm probably gonna go there in september early october. and definately bring a camera.

I'll be up for it if I have my car by then! (really hoping for sometime before October is over... pretty please Saturn?)

And - I just upgraded to a new SLR camera yesterday and am ready to take pics of the waterfalls!

Pa-Bushkill Falls

Hey gang,

I just moved from PA 3 yrs ago and that is just north of Allentown/Bethlehem. There are a lot of roads around there that wind thru the Poconos and other hills/valleys. Rt 611 is good. One road winds down to Jim Thorpe which is on the Lehigh River and is great folage area. Jim Thorpe is packed on weekends as they have a stream engine train that goes up the line for fall tours. Some roads lead to Lake Wallenpaupack or Beltsville lake. Rt 209 south from Bushkill is great and will take you to Jim Thorpe. Yes- named after the great athlete himself. I could map out a run if you want for late 2007. Many great eating places also.

Pitcom, this area is not TOO far from my neck of the woods. I used to go to Jim Thorpe a lot to mountain bike, and Bushkill is probably less than an hour from my house. I can probably help out too, once I look at a few maps and refresh my memory.

Childhood memory...

The Bushkill Falls area is nice, but much different from what it used to be like.

When I was a kid my parents used to visit a small resort called BuckHill Falls and it was in the same area. It was a fun place, and we only went in the winter for the sking (small hill but good to learn on), but they also has sledding, ice skating and snowmobiling on what appeared to be a golf course. I have tried to locate this resort, but either they changed their name or went out of business. If anyone has clue I would appreciate learning what happened to it.

Check out this 1985 article on the fate of Buck Hills Falls Resort, http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...5BC0A963948260

Looks like the place is now a private housing community, http://www.buckhillfalls.com/html/main.html

There is also a large conference center there now, http://www.buckhillinn.com/property.html

That's the place, thanks for finding and posting the info. Was once a great place, hope they do it right.

Brings back a lot of childhood memories. Thanks.

I'm going to be traveling to this spot probably the last weekend in June. Let me know if anyone is interested in going on a ride.

Can't make that but maybe you can scout out some roads and we could do this as a formal run later in the year?
