COAST TO COAST for book

I am planning on driving coast to coast to get pictures of your babies and the owners and their stories behind their cars. I am planning on hitting every state within a 6-9 month period. With at least 2 stops at dealerships along the way. I would like to get pics of ALL THE SKY AND SOL OWNERS I CAN to put in the book along with some background information on why etc etc you chose this beauty. I have sent a letter to GM and asked if they are willing to help out with sponsorships for ... example,,, a day of my trip. This is going to be costly and time consuming and I AM UP FOR IT. I love nothing more than to drive and this way.. I CAN MEET SO MANY OF YOU..... Whoever Sponsors a day of my trip or more will get THEIR NAME OR COMPANY NAME ON THE SIDE , HOOD, TRUNK ANYWHERE on my car.. WHAT GREAT ADVERTISING FOR THEM.... I am very excited and if you know anyone who may be willing to HOLD OR SPONSOR A SKY/SOL PARTY AT THEIR DEALERSHIP or a get together at their home, park, etc, please let me know. I plan on starting my treck around the end of march... As most of you know, IT IS COLD UP HERE IN THESE PARTS.......... THANKS AGAIN... tlcsurg@yahoo.com SkyBaby

OOopsy.... Ok... my hubby pointed out something i missed in the excitement of getting this out to all...... THE PART ABOUT SPONSORS HAVING THEIR NAME ON THE CAR.... YES..... BUT THE SPONSOR SPOTS WILL BE DIFFERENT LEVELS................ I will post that as soon as i get my route figured out and the costs. I AM NOT GETTING PAID FOR ANY OF THIS... THIS IS ALL FOR A BOOK, that hopefully will sell. The PRIME spots on the car will be the biggest sponsors...... HOOD/DRIVERS DOOR/PASSENGER DOOR.... the Hood and Drivers door should be for the DEALERSHIP THAT DONATES a demo or USED Sky for the tour. The PASSENGER DOOR should be for a 500$ sponsor.. the other sponsors will have a spot on the car. The spots will be for Sponsors of 200$ or more. I figured out base costs .. NOT DEFINITE.. depends on hotel costs, gas prices etc... would be around 130$ a night for hotel, 40$ food for day, and depending on distance between stops 60$ for gas.

I am the proud owner of the 1st Kappa Platform car (Solstice) to go "coast to coast." My historic trip took place in the summer of 2006 and corresponded with the 50th Anniversary of the Interstate Highway System.

Michael, my eight year old co-pilot, was an extremely helpful navigator. If I'd listened to him more often, I would not have had to drive up Priest Mountain in the dark (a 2000 ft. elevated, switchbacked nightmare) in order to get to Groveland, CA.

Here's a pic of the first beach landing on the west coast.
Cannon Beach, Oregon

Look me up when you get to Jersey! If you need input, pm me - I'll be glad to help.

I do not know if it is in the WCKCC budget but I think it would be something all Kappa clubs should get behind. It is an admirable pursuit. I wish you a safe successful adventure. I look forward to purchasing the book when it comes out.
Which coast are you starting from?
If you are in Centarl California, (Santa Barbara) on Saturday April 14th, join the WCKCC (West Coast Kappa Car Club) for our District Three One-Day meet.

I , in NO WAY am taking away from your route 66 run. I think it is AWESOME that you and your son did this drive. What great memories . This , that I am doing is very different. I am not just going straight through the states, I am stopping at .. at least 2 dealerships in EVERY STATE, ALL 50 OF THEM, and getting pics and background stories on the GREAT TASK OF THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF ORDERING, WAITING, GETTING AND ENJOYING THEIR SKY/SOL. I am making a book at the end of my tour. I already have a publisher and editor. I have a website that I am updating as often as I can learn it. The Arthritis Foundation and I are working together on this. Had a GREAT meeting with them yesterday and they will be helping set up stops and things. I would love any input you would have for me. I do have sponsors and am in the works of making meetings with other sponsors that myself and the Arthritis Foundation are working with. I will RAFFLE a Saturn Sky on my OFFICIAL KAPPAS COAST TO COAST TOUR WITH SkyBaby and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Arthritis Foundation. We are working on the book proceeds and exactly where they are going. This will be a NATIONAL event and there will be chapters of the Arthritis Foundation with me at every sponsored event. IT IS GOING TO BE A GREAT YEAR. I will be making all the dates I already have in my calendar. The official start will be more towards the end of this yr and HIT IS HARD IN 08. This will give us time to secure the sponsors and do this right , to benefit the most. I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS. THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER. SkyBaby

When you have an idea of when you'll hit the Philly/Delaware area, let us know.
I'm sure we could organize a group of people to meet up with you!

Philadelphia would be cool, as it is the birthplace of America, and you could find some good photo ops..

Wilmington would also be good... considering its the birthplace of the Kappas. We could meet ya next to the plant... but I'm not sure if there is much more than that in the area, other than that nice cruising road near that plant that we've driven in two crusies.

I'm no geography major... but seems to me that if you are driving around the country you need to lay out a general geopgraphic route that proceeds in a straight, forward moving pattern... such as looping around the edge first. Midwest, then to NorthEast, down the atlantic Coast, Florida, Texas... ect...
May mean ya miss an event or two.

If ya pick and chose events and places based on other's suggestions you are going to criss-cross across the country. Looks like ya already have the criss-crossing started

So.. to your question... Considering New York is 100 miles away... you'd prob want to make the Philly stop around the time as the NY stop. Could actually be back-to-back days.

But dont mind me... I've already proven to the board that I over analyze things.
