Well, we're just a few weeks away now, and we're trying to finalize our plans for the Buds & Blossoms Run. I posted a poll over on this thread, MASC Buds & Blossoms Run - Drive-In Movie Poll, about the possibility of going to the drive-in after the run. Please check it out and cast your vote.

Find anything there, Sollie??? Snow plows?

Just wanted to give this a lil bump and find out the starting time for our trip. Not to be a pest, but just curious, since I had never seen it mentioned.

Hopefully the weather will be nicer than this Sundays forecast.

Much appreciation. I did find a great bottle of Apple Bourbon @ the winery and a large enough parking lot at Bear Mt. for all of us to regroup for a pic. Spent time sampling food at a place called Yesterday's in Warwick, too. Most of all I wanted to check out the time factor for those of us who have later engagements.

I left the Overlook at precisely 12pm. The run took 2 hours, I figure the winery to be an hour +, meanderings in Warwick was 45 minutes. I left for home around 4pm, took 17A back to 287/Rt.17 (Mahwah/Ramsey) which connects to the NY Thruway, or Rt.80.

I live 1/2 hour south of 80 and pulled into the driveway at 5:02.

I emailed Diane - waiting to hear from her.

Nicely done, though I may have to check out that bourbon before I commit!

Plan for Buds & Blossoms Run on April 28th.

Meet at the State Line Lookout on the Palisades Parkway by 12 noon on April 28th.

Given that we will need to do some organizing and discussion of the route, I plan for us to be on the road by 12:30pm.

The run should take about 2 to 2 1/2 hours, as we will make one stop in Bear Mountain State Park to regroup.

This should get us to the winery by 2:30 or 3:00pm. We will have the opportunity to grab a late lunch, as well as do a wine tasting and listen to some musical entertainment while we are at winery.

I have six to eight people interested in going to the drive-in, so those who plan to stick around for the movies, let me know if you are interested in sticking together as a group for the time between the winery and the drive-in or if you would prefer some time to wander off and explore on your own.

Some Driving information:

MEETING POINT: The following information is provided for those not sure of how to get to our meeting point at State Line Lookout on the Palisades Interstate Parkway:

Using a GPS navigator or computer/internet mapping program(i.e. google maps), you should be able to set your destination as the intersection of Palisades Interstate Parkway and State Line Lookout in Alpine, NJ . This will get you to the entrance ramp for the State Line Lookout.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
When Reed, solli and I did our pre-run, the sign for the State Line Lookout was down, and I don't know if it has been replaced yet.

To help you identify the entrance for the State Line Lookout:

For those approaching from the South, the Lookout is right before Exit 3, and will be on your right as you go under a walking bridge/overpass. If you miss the turn, you can take Exit 3 from the left lane of the parkway, which will put you on the Palisades Interstate Parkway South. Stay in the left lane and you will again come upon a left lane exit to bring you back around on the Palisades Parkway North, approaching the State Line Lookout.

For those approaching from the North, you will pass Exit 3 on the Southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway. Immediately south of Exit 3 will be a left hand exit which will allow you across the median and onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway North. The State Line Lookout will be the first exit ramp you come to, and it will be on your right as you go under a walking bridge/overpass.

RETURN HOME: For those that want to use a computer/internet mapping program to pre-plan their route home, the following addresses may be helpful.

Warwick Valley Winery
114 Little York Road
Warwick, NY

Warwick Drive-In
5 Warwick Turnpike
Warwick, NY

LOL... I have no idea what movie to watch!!!

So - I checked out the reviews on RottenTomatoes:

Perfect Stranger - - 11% positive reviews

Are We Done Yet? - - 9% positive reviews

Kickin' It Old Skool - No Reviews This might be a positive thing!

hehehe - maybe "Kickin' It" is the safest best for me because it Might be okay??
It is supposed to have a lot of 80's references for us older people!

If the later movies were shown first, I'd go for The Reaping,
which is also a - 8% Positive Reviews

But something about Bad Horror is okay with me!

hmmm... gotta think about this one...

I agree! Last week The Reaping was the first movie showing, and I was hoping they would stick with that schedule. Oh, well.

Sure you don't want to stay for the double feature? So what if you don't get home until 3:00am?

Tips for the Drive In Movies:

The sound for the movie is provided over a special radio frequency which you can tune into on your car stereo. I prefer to bring a small boom box that I run off of batteries so that I don't have to use the car battery and keep the key in the ignition.

If you have a folding chair that will fit in your trunk, you may want to bring it along so you can sit outside your car to avoid issues with the windshield frame blocking your view.

I also recommend you bring a sweatshirt, jacket, blanket, significant other, etc. for warmth. Night-time temps will probably drop into the 50s while we are at the drive-in. (The current weather forecast for Saturday is a high of 67 deg and a night-time low of 49 deg.)

This sounds so awesome. I can't wait!

Wild Hogs was a great movie too I laughed so hard thru that entire movie and I wouldn't mind seeing Blades of Glory...

I'll have to look into those first rounders, along with probably a hotel room if we stay for both movies.

Weather Update and Run Planning

Well, the weather forecast has been holding steady with a 30% chance of showers for tomorrow. Looking at the radar map, it looks like the heavy rain will have passed the area by tomorrow morning, and if we get any rain it will probably be in the form of sporadic showers.

I don't think this would impact safety so long as we drive for the road conditions. And I don't have a problem running with the top up or making a quick stop to raise our tops if we need to.

So with this in mind, I plan to go ahead with the Run. The Drive In will be a last minute call based on how the weather progresses, but I think by evening any rain may clear out of the area.

I will keep my eye on the weather reports, and if things take a turn for the worse, I will reassess at that time. But based on the current forecast, the Run is a GO!!!

I hope you won't let a little liquid sunshine stop you from enjoying the company of good friends!
