OK so I've been answering questions for folks who have just gotten their cars and have not been around the forum as long as some so I decided to start yet another MECCA II thread

What does MECCA stand for?

It's a term that came about long before the first Solstice was delivered and Slicer lays claim to calling it that. Just a take off from the Holy Mecca and a place that the faithful must visit.

Are there 2 separate time for the May 9th plant tour?

Yep and we will firm up the exact times in April and I'll post a list with the names and times.

A tour for new people and one who have already been on a tour?

No 1st timer or 2nd timer, just two different times. I suspect that each group will be made up of people who are 1st and 2nd timers to the plant tour

Are there going to be patches/shirts/regalia for sale regarding the tour?

Working out the details now and it will be available for anyone to purchase but folks will have to commit to size and quantity in advance and there will not be a bunch of extras that day. We may do something later so that folks can order stuff from a web site.

Thursday night there will be get together dinner, correct? Meeting at a Pontiac dealership? and going from there?

Correct. Need folks to vote in the polls for the dinners so that we can have something that resembles a head count. MECCA II - Thursday Night

Friday is the plant tour

Yes, Friday is the big day and we will be going out to dinner after the tour to a place called the Iron Hill Brewery for folks who would like to. Once again need folks to vote in the polls for the dinners so that we can have something that resembles a head count. MECCA II - Friday Night

Saturday is the run thru Delaware?

Yes, we are testing the route with the local folks and will post a map later. We will as part of that run stop at the Dover Air Force Base Museum for a tour. MECCA II - The Saturday Run

Yes as soon as we have some more specifics. Like last time we will post specifics like the t-shirt and the cost and then folks will be able to vote in a public poll for what they want to pay for on the day of the tour.

I plan on attending, but there are two possible shotgun riders. How do I handle contingency:

1. Fill out two waivers, with me primary on both and each shotgunner sign one each?
2. Fill out one waiver and add a third particpant block?

My concern with (1) is will the second one override the first one (this might happen if they are using a database to hold/track waivers), or will they maintain BOTH so I can use whichever one I need.

So in this case you should send me two complete waivers covering your contingency and then you would need to pick one of the two options prior to me giving the waivers to the plant in early April.

I went on the tour last year and don't want to take up a spot from someone new. How many spots are open? If I just want to come hang out do I still need a waiver?

Everyone who is thinking about being there on May 9th either in the parking lot or attending one of the two tour times should send a waiver in the mail to me.

There is no limit on the number of owners that can attend but each owner is limited to a single guest at this point.

Hey JustMike, any news on weather Tech's are invited. Had my car at the dealer for the recall and told them about the tour, they said they would like to send one or two of there Tech's to the tour.

Techs or anyone from the dealer's staff can attend as someone who is interested in the car and might one day be a potential owner Of course they would have to take a day off or have an understanding with their employer just like any of you.

Question: You are asking for the last 8 of the VIN number. Is this information going to be saved by anyone for any reason?

All waivers and even the envelopes are given to GM.

I keep absolutely nothing other then a simple spreadsheet for tracking that includes things like forum ID, Solstice or Sky, 1 or 2 people and your State.

The factory requested the VIN for a tracking and/or possible quality check followup.

I wanted to know if you know what times the tours are on Friday and if kids are allowed. Also, do you have to own a Sky to go on the tour?

I don't yet have specific times for the tours but they will both be on Friday May 9th and I have to have a waiver post marked by March 31st. You don't have to have a Sky or Solstice to attend but no one under 10 is allowed on site that day.

Is the trip route set yet and do we have a dinner location?
The Cape May-Lewis Ferry sounds great but you have to book 24 hours before and it sounds like there could be difficulty in scheduling. It definitely would be fun!

What entrance are we using to the plant? Maybe a google earth shot of the plant with a big red "ENTER HERE" at the entrance we are using would be nice.
