Saturday Run Details

So the executive run committee held an emergency meeting ... OK, me and Spag had a phone call ... anyway given the number of cars involved and the fact that not enough local folks have been trained on the route we have decided that we are gonna use PLAN B.

We will meet in the same parking lot where your car will be parked for the Mecca Plant Tour (and yes I have GM's permission) on Saturday at 10:30 AM. We will roll out of the parking lot at 11:00 AM and head down 141 to Delaware 9. Hard to get lost this way and we can take our time and have a nice run. Delaware 9 dead ends near the Air Base Museum. We will assemble there for a potty break or what have you and then it is a short trip to Dickey's BBQ for lunch. They will be ready for us between 1 and 2 PM. After that we will head back to the museum for the tour and pictures and what not.

If you still want to do the northern twisty part then the map is here and you should plan on an hour and 1/2 for that with another hour and 1/2 to get down Delaware 9.

For those who want to exchange cell phone numbers they can PM my son Mickey who will collect them all and print out a list for Saturday Morning.

Steve,
Count me in, I voted "Yes" in the poll a long time ago!
But I'm not on MarlboroMikes list

The Northern Twisty part

If any one else is interested in still doing the Northern part of the run early Sat and meeting the main group at the plant at 11 or at the museum later let me know. I personally have no local knowledge of the area or roads so I am not qualified to lead anyone, but since I am traveling from Fla. and probably won't get a chance to drive this again I am probably going to do this part even if I just do it solo for the Delaware experience.

If there are other adventuresome souls that might be interested in also doing it with me let me know, and we can do it together. I AM NOT FORMALLY ORGANIZING ANYTHING OR A RUN LEADER, thus if you do it with me it is at your own risk i.e. like getting lost, missing the main group etc etc. I will be on the Road starting Tuesday and not on the Fourm until after Mecca so if interested just seek "The Dude" out at Mecca I will be at the Fairfield late Thursday.

See ya!

I am more than willing to join you on the drive!

Why is this not a formal part of the ride? There is no way to see if everyone is together on these roads - and there are very few places to pull over and wait! Therefore, without having multiple ride leaders, there is no way to include this section as a formally organized part of the ride!

I recommend that anyone interested bring a GPS in case you get lost!

We would need to leave the factory no later than 9:30 if we want to get back and join the caravan on the way to Dover!
