In the Mood for Mexican?? [03-10-07]

Hey everyone!

How about another trip to the Mexican place in Kennett Square again on March 10th? Second Saturday of the month?

Quite a few of us from the DE area are planning another run for the border!

Meet at the plant again and drive the twisty road up to Kennett Sq - eat - drive back and take a detour... so we can hit that cool roller coaster-like road were were airborne on with the covered bridge (and a huge buck standing in the road) that Blue Sky discovered??

Here's the Route Link

Sound cool??

Remember - March 10!! It'll be warmer by then too!!!

also.... I have pics from March 11th 2006, and everyone was in T-shirts. Lets hope that just weeks from now on the 10th 2007, its warm again!!!

not too many pics of the route... needed to keep both hands on steering wheel to handle the twisty roads! But I plan on gettign a camcorder/bullet cam mount before the march date and put some vid up on the net

I loved that place. Put me down as a strong maybe. I'll know more as the date approaches. Hopefully I'll have my new top by then.

You mean down in Beaver Valley Steve? I've got some good stories about that place. Also, right after the bridge on the 202 side, there is a state park that is pretty nice. Maybe this spring/summer we should look into setting up a bbq at one of the parks in the area. It's definately a good route, it's the one i take to get to your house. Brings me right out by buckley's. It's a scary drive at night when it's pitch black, almost has a haunted feeling to the area. Count me in.

We won't be driving by that field were those bodies are buried, will we??

Spooky...

I'll be there unless something happens before the 10th. Had the Sky out yesterday for a trip to Allentown,Pa to see my mom and a friend from California. Good weather. Lots of snow in Altwn and the streets suck.

See ya all.

Check out the video!! (but don't laugh at the quality - it was my compact camera - not a camcorder)

I recommend skipping ahead to about 5:30 minutes unless you want to see the covered bridge area (a little boring on film - but fun to drive because of the practically invisible hills),
The twists are at the very start and after the 5:30 point...

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...74778932909586
The video looks better if you click the down arrow on the bottom right corner and set it to Original Size

No - I was not driving fast. There was still quite a bit of ice and snow on the roads (the main reason the video bounces around so much), so I had to take it fairly slow. I sped-up the video so it wouldn't be too boring.

The "loop" portion of the route starts and ends when passing over the reservoir, which looks like a frozen lake in the video. The roads on the loop are mainly straight, but worth driving for the hills. Of course, the camera almost bounced out of the car on the rollercoaster road (just before the covered bridge).

Once back on 82, after the "loop", the twisties start up again...

I tried to get a good time estimate - but it was hard to with the ice on the route. Looking at the 10 day forcast, that ice will be gone by the time we go. I have a feeling that it will be about 40-50 minutes if we take the loop before lunch, and then about 25 minutes back to the factory after lunch.

I was holding it... but after it was over, I realized that I could have attached my camera to my GPS holder!

that's too funny... I have a seperate thread on camera mounts, and just this morning I started a reply to it suggesting just the same.. using the GPS mount. But I never hit submit as I figured I better try it first.

In danger of hijacking the thread... but I may try out a small Security Camera taped to GPS mount. A friend told me Sams club had the cams for $30! then I can connect the wires into the camcorder which could simply rest on the passenger seat.
