Sky and NJ sunset...

Last weekend I was in NJ visiting family.
I caught this picture while returning from my sister's house to my inlaws...
I wanted to share...

That's because the only part of NJ that most visitors see is the stretch between Newark airport and New York City (which is probably the worst part of the whole state).

Yeah, there's a lot more to Jersey than what you see in the Soprano's intro.

Too true!
I grew up there and have heard all the jokes.
I grew up in a town of just 209 people where I could go for a walk for an hour and (if I didn't know the area so well) be completely lost in the back woods.

This thread is being kidnapped by New Jersey...I can only say that this is a horrible State to live in...the Politicians r overtly corrupt....each township is a fiefdom. They want every nickel and dime and the real estate taxes r out of whack...not pension friendly....did I leave anything out? Oh yes, they do have good schools...the only plus.

Now to the picture...it really is not a good pic revealing the SKY at sunset...u can barely make out a profile...it should have been taken with more light...but that would have made the sunset less impressive....u get a B only....sorry

I guess in that respect it is kinda like the Sopranos

But I agree, taxes and government here suck. What other state do you know of that SHUT DOWN all government offices temporarily for 5 days (i think that's how long it was) because of budget and being broke. And now the governor is thinking of leasing off major assets of the state to private companies (parkway and turnpike)......eeesh...

But at least our tourism and schools are alright, not to mention highway systems. Public transport......not so much. But hey, out of all of us that live in NJ, and complain and what not, when asked to move........we usually say....."nah........i kinda like it here"

Having left NJ for MA 20-odd years ago I won't even get started with taxes, turnpikes, Schools, Politicians (talk about a closely held family run business!) and what-not - we have more than enough to talk about right here (Can I sell you a $20B hole in the ground?)...

As far as the picture goes I was going for the subtle effects of light and darkness, the light of the sky reflecting softly of the, er, Sky...
I think that considering the camera used was a cell phone it came out just fine!

since u now qualified it as a cell phone camera...then as a pic, it moves to a B plus...is that one of the new 2 megapixel cell phones?...mine takes horrible pics.

Diane, I would move but the spouse won't sign her half of the deed...I am stuck here and stuck with her...UGH! I wonder if I can move in with Steve. This way I can nag him for those Opel tail lights..

It's the LG VX8300 - it has a 1.3megapixel camera. Not too bad.
This pic was not even taken with the highest resolution (somebody played with the settings, probably me) and it still came out pretty good.

Well it wasn't another state, but....

I work for the Federal government, and 10 or 12 years ago we were all put on furlough (temporary alay-off) for a federal government shut down because Congress/the President couldn't agree on a budget. Its all just power plays and politcal games by power-hungry politicians, and I think that pretty much happens everywhere.

Nj

If you look closely, you can see at least six felonies being committed in the background of that photo.

Let's face it, in some places government is a bit of a Circus.
(Other places raise to a higher comic (or perhaps tragic) art-form)

...but this thread was originally about a great car in a fleetingly beautiful location resulting in a tastefully done picture that I just wanted to share with my friends here

Yeah, sorry for the thread hijack. Marlboromike can't help being insulting, and the rest of us can't help yanking his chain.

It truly is a beautiful pic.

Thanks for sharing.

I didn't mind that - I just had a poetic moment and used it to hijack it back!

I'm glad you liked it!

I know the thread just got back on track, but I have to say that was the funniest thing I've read in weeks!

As for the pic, I really like it. It's particularly impressive for a camera phone shot, and I like that it's dark because the overall shape of the car really pops out and we get to enjoy the silhouette. That effect would be lost with more light.
