Spiedie Fest/Balloon Rally 2007 and Cruise

I wanted to start planning for 2007's event pretty early.

The Spiedie Fest & Balloon Rally in Binghamton, NY will be in it's 22nd year this time around and as all things normally do... it is getting better and better with age.

One of the best things about the event is it's car shows. Saturday and Sunday are two different car shows. The one that Kappa's would be most welcome at is Sunday's.

The local dealer that owns the Saturn retailer and a Pontiac location is a sponsor of the event and brings in one of the Saturn Corp. marketing trailers.

The whole festival is August 3rd - 5th, 2007.
Friday night is balloon launch, concerts, night glow and fire works.
Saturday and Sunday add the car shows to the mix among MANY other things.

What I am planning is a cruise from Binghamton to Ithaca and back or through the hills of the area or similar on Saturday evening. Have a group dinner on Saturday night, then Sunday morning attend the car show.

If you are interested in coming, post up and I will keep you updated both on here and through e-mails.

I will be there Sunday... the Saturday night thing fell through for this year. Also, the dealership group that has sponsored the car show and owns the local Saturn store is not sponoring it this year. So the Saturn marketing trailer will not be there.

It will still be a GREAT car show and awesome event all around. Those that are coming, would you like to do a pre-show breakfast or something??? I get off work at 6am, which is about the time of the 1st hot-air balloon launch.

I have a call into Dave Pessagno 607 765 6604 to get information on an actual ballon ride (cost is $175.00). They normally lift either very early AM or evening time. Of course weather permitting. 'If' I have to be there at 6AM I may drive up Saturday and grab a room. If I can do a evening lift-off, then YES! I would like to meet up and cruise up.

Pre show breakfast is a great idea. I will head down early if it looks like the balloon launch is going to happen. Right now the wether is 30% chance rain with Isolated T storms. So not to great and may mean just meeting up for breakfast and not having to leave early to catch the launch

. I woudl still rather cruise with other people then catch the launch anyways. I'm cruising down right from Utica on 12 south. Takes you right into Binghamton. Anyone else is welcomed to join.

Hey all,

Here is what I am thinking.

Saturday evening, if any of you are down we can do a quick drive and then go to a car cruise-in... or just do the cruise in, which starts about 5:30pm and ends about dusk.

Sunday morning, we can do breakfast at either McDonalds or the Spot Diner... both really close to the venue and open 24 hours. So those coming in the AM, breakfast at 6 or 7am sound good??? Roll in for the show is about 8am.

Show itself is until about 3pm... we can then move our cars to the side or to a seperate area depending on room and if you want thousands of people near your car after the show.

Evening balloon launch is at 6pm.

Now, depending on if I have to work Sunday night, I will be heading to bed about 2pm... so I apologize in advance if my hosting is done then... but there is plenty to do, see and eat the whole day!!!
