Blue Ridge Parkway/Blowing Rock Memorial Day Weekend

We are trying to get together a little ride for the Blue Ridge Parkway for Memorial Day weekend. Our thoughts are to cruise the parkway on Saturday. Stop somewhere for lunch and cruise some more and stop at some of the overlooks. Sunday Steve and I plan to do some hiking on some of the trails on the Parkway. Our (personal) plans are to go up Friday afternoon and stay the night. We figure on meeting up with everyone around 10 or 11 on Saturday and heading for the parkway. This will allow plenty of time for anyone who doesn't want to spend the night, to come on up. We can all have dinner Saturday night together somewhere.... And then on Sunday, for anyone who stays you are welcome to join in on hiking with me and Steve or do some shopping in Blowing Rock, or more cruising the parkway.

So who is interested?

A good place to find somewhere to stay if you plan on staying is: www.blowingrock.com
There are a lot of places to choose from I just found that they seemed to be filling up faster than I liked. We are staying at The Village Inn in Blowing Rock.

EDIT: Duh!!! I just saw the "Memorial Day Weekend" statement... Not sure if I can, that is usually a pretty big car sale weekend. We'll see...

Memorial Day is still a long way off (in my crazy world, anyway). but I'm definitely there - unless.......there's ten odd weeks between now and Memorial Day for "unless" to rear its ugly head.

Would love to come to Blowing Rock - it's a great place to ride. My husband has too work that weekend so I don't know if we will be able to come. If you schedule any other rides please keep me in the loop!

Oh darn! Well I think we will be doing something before then anyway... We will definatly let you know. We are doing the Tail of the Dragon ride in August. Have out checked that out?

You know we'll be there. Not sure yet how many nights we will stay--probably at least on Saturday night. We might drive up Saturday morning, though, instead of staying there Friday night. Will let you know.

We knew we could count on you guys! Tijuana Fats for dinner. They adverstise great Margaritas... Guess we will just have to be the judge of that.

I think it would be nice if we could all stay in the same area overnight instead of being spread out. It makes it a lot safer for drinking the Big Blue ones!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe we need to know where to start and end. Will this be a Sat Sun Mon or a Sun Mon cruz?

We are planing to cruise on Saturday. Start and end in Blowing Rock. There are a number of places we could go or we could just stay on the parkway. Just depends on what everyone wants to do. We could all meet at the Shoppes on the the Parkway Saturday morning around 10:00 or so to get started.

The more the merrier. Everyone is on their own for reservations so there is less to worry about.

If anyone has a particular road they would like to drive (other than the BRP) in that area, make a suggestion. I am looking into a few roads up there.
