Dragon-TOTD SKy Gathering- Friday Run??

Hi All- For those interested and that will be down there a little early, I would be willing to put together a drive for Friday afternoon for those interested. Proposed route would include The Smoky Mountains National Park- Little River Road, then either up to Clingman's Dome and back, or if preferred continue on through the park to Cherokee, NC, up onto the Blue Ridge Pkwy to the highest point and back, and then on round to Fontana Village. For those interested, you can either post to this thread to let me know or PM me. I was thinking of leaving around 1pm. Meeting place to be determined- if there is enough interest, and we could all caravan together. Just let me know if interested and route preferred. Thanks!

Solfull- I didn't get a PM from you today, if you sent me one. Would 1pm work for you to meet up for the Friday run?

I am thinking meeting place will be the gas station on the corner by the Village. I think it's called the Hellbender?

So for those interested in participating in a drive through the Smokies Park and to wherever?? Meeting Time- 1pm Location- Gas Station corner of Village- Hellbender I think.

Rain

I might be interested, however the forecast is for thunderstorms on Friday. Sat. & Sun are going to be mid 80s and sunny.

Billytracy- You are talking the weekend in August for the Sky run Aug 10th and 11th? You have a forecast out that far? Dang you are good. I need you here as my weather man

Even with rain the drive is beautiful, and the weather there can change in an instant. Plus you can be at Fontana Village with rain and drive over to the park, and it will be sunny. That's how it is in the mountains.

Sorry

That is what we in the south refer to as a "BRAIN FART". I thought you were talking about this weekend.

OK I wondered. I was thinking that the Weather Channel was in serious need of your skills.

There were some scattered showers this afternoon on the Cherohala Skyway (I was there). Rain and 62 degrees in the upper elevations; sunny and near 80 toward the bottom. The Foothills Parkway from Townsend to the Dragon is a fun road to drive with some breathtaking views. The Dragon's curves were really tight, but still fun to maneuver. There was a semi truck jackknifed about a half mile south of Deals Gap, so it forced me to find an alternate route, but all in all I really enjoyed the day in the Twisties. (I wish we had hills and curves in Illinois!)

I pray for safe travel and good weather for everyone meeting at the Dragon in a few weeks.

Sky Vue- awesome pics. Now you know what I have been talking about!!! Illinois has nothing compared to the Smokies. We go to the Deals Gap area at least a couple times a year. Be retiring there when older more than likely. It's fun with a car, but I still love it more on the motorcycle. Maybe next year you can caravan down with me to the TOTD Sky run.

OK Just so you don't go driving after having the beer in hand. Don't want to find anyone wrapped around a tree. I found a Miata wrapped around a tree on last midnight run. He had a case of beer in hand.
