Post Florida Run to the Shuttle

A couple members of Tampa Bay Roadsters plan on driving across the state next saturday (the 11th) to watch the shuttle launch from the Cape. The shuttle is scheduled for a 7:39pm launch. If other groups or single cars would like to run with us, or meet someplace close and drive the last couple of miles to watch the launch please let us know. If we get ant response we will make arrangements for meeting places, etc.

STS-127 launch of shuttle Endeavour

Y'all go for it! Try to get there as early as possible Saturday morning because the roads around The Cape will become clogged and traffic will crawl to a standstill as the day goes on...

Good luck to everyone!

Angry

I have to apologize to everyone for getting everyone's hopes up for this. I am going to have to excuse myself, as are the other friends of mine coming from this coast. They were coming because of me and now I have to have minor surgery tomorrow morning that will keep me (and them) from making the trip.
We are planning another run that way soon. I will put out info about it as soon as everything is in stone.
Ric

After this mission there will only be 7 more flights for the Space Shuttle System.
Then... like the Kappas there will be no more shuttle launches.

Countdown clock for STS-127 begins ticking tonite at 10:00pm.

We are actually planning an overnight for the next one on the morning of August 18. The shuttle is supposed to launch at 4:25am that morning, which should make a beautiful night launch. I have made a reservation at Cocoa Beach Florida hotels, Quality Suites hotel close to John F. Kennedy Space Center, Cocoa Beach FL 32931 for the night of the 17th. Anyone is welcome to join in the fun.

T minus 1 day and counting... current weather prediction is for 60% chance that the launch will have to be scrubbed due to unacceptable atmospheric conditions during the next 24hrs..

The shuttle is getting "gassed up" now, a 3-hour process;
and preparing for a liftoff later today at 7:13pm.

Ooops, cancelled again.

Afternoon thunder storms with scattered lightening is moving into the Caoe Canaveral area at just the wrong time. Today's scheduled blastoff has now been officially scrubbed. Apparently, the spacecraft, like the Sky, does not like to go out in the rain.

We usually get a sonic boom here, as it usually passes close to the Tampa area, guess we won't get it this time.
