I'll be offshore for most of the month.
It will probably be June before I can go again.

I looked at my schedule and the only day I can cruise is Saturday 24 May. The rest of my weekends are clobbered. If that day works, we could do something over by Dauphine Island, even the USS Alabama or points further west for the folks that live in that direction.

Hey guys I currently am looking to get a redline possibly, but wanted to know how things were with the car? Still have that brake or rear seal issues? This may not be the right place to ask that, but I figured since I am on the coast as well I may get some time to meet up or something.

I have about 6500 miles on my 2008 Redline and I have had absolutely zero problems with the car. I drive the crap out of it since it is my daily driver and I work in Louisiana.
Fuel economy is averaging 28+ mpg.
Where on the coast are you?

I am in ocean springs, MS and currently have a POS geo metro for a Daily Driver. I also have a 1921 pickup truck I cruise in as well as a 04 neon srt4 that I drive on the weekends as well. I need a new DD car instead of the metro to drive to work even though it is around 108 miles round trip to work. I know some people go crazy when they think I am spending too much on a car for a DD. The way I look at it is use it as a DD and do no mods to it.....I wont. Then when I get a house closer to work and the motor gets too many miles on it I will end up buying a LS3 or something to drop in the sky.

I just read before that people were having issues with the brakes on these cars and there had been a few accidents. That the dealership tells you when you buy the car that yuo have to let it idle for a minute or two to allow the car to build up vaccume so you can have brakes. Something to do with the vaccume pump being taken out in the 08 models or somthing.

I think I can make the 24th. I don't have a schedule like Mark but, I have a long list of honey do's that need to be done before Fontana Dam in June.

Is a Mississippi Gulf Coast meet possible. I think its about an hour and a half for me and 3 hours for George and Susan. I know Gary and Mark have talked about coming this way. Maybe the Hard Rock Cafe or somewhere. I know the coast is still in shambles, but it could be a nice weekend. Just a thought. Doesn't have to be May. Anytime. May 24th is Memorial Day Weekend. Don't know how crowded everything would be. Mike

Mississippi is OK with me. And your right, that is Memorial Day Weekend. Maybe if we stayed away from casino row it might not be too bad. Maybe Ocean Springs? There used to be a good seafood restaurant on Hwy 90 just before you cross the bridge into Biloxi. Just some thoughts.

I live in ocean springs.....aunt jennys is the seafood place your speaking of just over the old fort bayou bridge. You also have some places right in D'Iberville which include: outback, Beef O'Bradys, chilis, ruby tuesday, high cotton grill, cicis pizza, sonic, etc. I like the Island View casinos buffet over in Gulfport, MS....I believe it costs around $18 and the selection is decent. As it was said the Hard Rock you have the cafe there.

Thanks, I was just thinking that Ocean Springs might not be as crowded on Memorial Day Weekend. If and when we get together, you might want to join us and get an idea about what we are all about. George, Mark, Mike, Ricky, Fred, everyone, what do you think? Let's kick it around and see what everyone thinks. You guys might want to go up north (Hattisburg, Seminary, Collins). As long as the snow is melted that far north.

Lucky for us today, it's raining like crazy and melted all the snow. I went outside without a coat on today. Nanananananana! Even planted my garden. I hope it doesn't freeze!!! Anyway, what ever everybody decides. Ocean Springs is good. The new bridge is open. We could always eat and cruise down 90. Still not much too see. But cruisin would be nice for some pictures on the beach. Mike

I am good for the 24th wherever the group wants to go (all points west so it's not so far for Mike and George). I wll have to be home that night as I have two functions on sunday.
vschaos... I have had my 2.4 about 18 month and zero problems. My understaning is the brake issue was limited and has been resolved. Would be great if you could met with us, get a look and talk.

Hi Guys and Gals

35700 miles on mine and no real problems. Changed the A/C compressor two times and still makes a whining noise but The dealer called Saturn tech line and they said for some reason the early Sky's Base's whine and they didn't know why. The first ones where built like the Opel's GT's and whine but there not sure why. They also said that The Sky's in Europe are only available in the turbo so when they installed the 2.4 and but A/C on it after about 3000 miles the compressor whines. A/C is not a option on the Opel GT's is what they told me.
I am suppose to work that day but since it is so far away one just never knows
Also on the brake comment. Are you talking about the brakes being good enough on the Red Lines or is something else going on with the brakes??

I think he's talking about the problem with the redline brakes. There has been no problem with the 2.4 brakes that I know of.

I posted in another thread on here....

thoughts about reliability?

It gets into a little detail. No biggie really just let the car idle for a little bit before taking off as I always do anyways....it allows the car to build vaccum.

Sure let me know when you guys for sure are coming down and where you are going. I will be the read headed step child since I will be the oddball without a redline, but I will still cruise

Don't worry. None of us have a redline. Just a s/c(seal9) and redline don'twannabes. I'll take a s/c over a redline anytime.

Anyway, back to the May meet, any ideas or tentative plans?

Hurding cats? OK. We're settled on Ocean Springs. Anyone have any suggestions on where to meet in Ocean Springs?

Well if its the 24th some local friends and out of state folks will be grilling and such at a pavilion near Ocean Springs. I havent confirmed the place yet as I havent called, but I plan on renting the pavilion for that day. Its a variety of people..cobras, 240's, trucks, transams, etc. As far as the age group we have a few older guys in there 50+ range and the others range in the low to mid 20's...some in the 30/40 range to give an idea. If your interested I will post up the details of our meet. Its right on the water so swimming could be done as well.
