I'm visiting Tampa!!

I am flying down this friday night (June 27th) and coming back monday for a business trip. While I am there I am going to be looking for a new home if we win the contract (fingers crossed!) So the question is, where is a good area to live that is a reasonable commute to McDill, has shopping, is SAFE for a single woman and her kids, and safe to park my SKY!

Anyone up for drinks at the Hilton Saturday nite?

Ruh Roh, is that area ready for the TWO of us to be in town? Won't there be like a crack of lightning and a disembodied voice that says, oh no, not TWO of you!

I am looking forward to meeting you though! I'll let you know if we win the contract!

I would look in the Old Hyde Park Village area. Close to MacDill AFB and near International Plaza (high end mall). It has a small town charm with it's small shopping district and older architecture. Davis Island is another area that is nice. It's a mixture of Florida urban and beach/water style homes and condo's.

Palm Harbor, Oldsmar is a nice area, but your probably looking at a 1 hour commute each way to the AFB. If you want to live near PH then I would suggest the West Chase are. It's north of Tampa, about a 30 to 45 minute commute, but a new neighborhood. Great schools, shopping and well planned community. PM me if you need more help with housing etc. My wife and I faced the same situation 7 years ago when we moved here form Ohio.

Key West is still too far away for me to know yet, but the option is still there.

I've lived in Tampa all my life (native believe that) I currently live in the Brandon area and via the crosstown (toll road) MacDill is an easy communte. Brandon is an area with older established neighborhoods or new ones. Great mall and school district.

If you are communting to MacDill on a daily basis I would said head east out I-4 toward Plant City or Lakeland area, lot of land still available out that way. Can't tell you much about the schools though.

I wonder if it is the same contract that my wife's company is bidding? does it have to do with communications?

Anyway my wife drives my sky daily from NW hillsborough (near Westchase) to Macdill and the commute isn't too bad, the area is great and so are the schools.
