National Kappa Day gathering [Aug 5th - Central Florida]

I started a thread about this on the SolForum and was posting it here as well since this is a Kappa wide event. I've added a poll as well so please take a minute to vote to help me out with the planning.

Ok this ones for all us Florida Kappa lovers (and anyone else willing to drive that far

August 5th I'm wanting to plan a meet and run for all us Florida (plus our neighbors) Solstice/Sky owners in an event I'd like to name the National Kappa Day gathering. August 5th, 2005 two years ago the very first Solstice was delivered to a customer by GM and it's been an awesome two years that I'd like to celebrate with other Kappa owners.

I just wanted to put a feeler out there for everyone to let you know it's coming up. The run will start in the Central Florida area more then likely near the University of Central Florida (not finalized yet though).

I'd like to try to get a more solid and regular SSS [Sunshine State Solmates] meetings going and try to solidify ourselves in the sea of all things Solstice/Sky. I'd also like to get a new logo made as well that will incorporate the Sky so we can be one club. It'll still be SSS but it'll mean Sunshine State Solmates or Skymates depending on what car you drive.

If any of you Sky owners are artistic and would like to alter our SSS business card I can provide you with a PSD file to do it up right.

August 5th we're meeting at the Radisson for breakfast starting at 8am and then leaving at 10am to go on the run. We'll probbaly get together with those at the hotel who are there to socialize.

Ok for everyone needing to get a hotel I've gone with the Radisson as the meeting place. I'm going to be at the hotel in the breakfast area at 8am and the plan is to be on the road by 10am. Those in the local area can get together with those staying over to hang out. They have decent rates, a full restaurant with a bar, and serve breakfast. It's also right on 50 which is the starting point of our run. The route posted a couple posts back is the official route and I've updated the first post in this thread with the info plus hotel info.

Ok here's the route we're going to be doing.

Well meet and have breakfast at the hotel that's chosen, drive down 50->520->528 (I'll provide the Quarter it costs to get on the toll road for everyone

)->A1A->Ron Jons Surf Shop for like 30~60 minutes->A1A->Lunch->Sebastian Inlet State Park ($3 single occupancy vehicle, $5 for full vehicle) for 30~60 minutes->A1A->US1->US3->405->50 and end up back in Orlando. If we're running late we can jump on 520 or 528 before getting to 50 and that cuts off like nearly 45 minutes of travel time. People can jump on i95 and head north/south or take 528 to i4/407 from many points along the way too. I want to have a cake but I need to figure out someplace we can have the cake. I might make that my house at the end of the trip for those who want to continue on since we'll pass by my place heading back to Orlando.

I did this route with my friend who owns a 2007 Mustang GT and he enjoyed the route as did I. Nice and scenic, should be a good run with fellow Solstice owners.

OH THIS is going to be perfect!!!!!!! Wish it wasn't on a Sunday thought I hate doing anything on Sundays... but SOOOOOOOOOO COUNT US IN so far baring anything huge Earth shattering comes up!!!!!!!!

If anyone gets together the saturday before, I'll likely drive up. Sunday will be tough since I have to be back at work Monday morning.

Crap...I spoke too soon. Looks like my band is going to be playing the night of the 4th. Since we usually play till late, it makes it even less likely that I'll be able to make it on Sunday either.

I think the plan for those that are interested, is to get together Saturday night at the hotel. A meet and greet with our out of town Kappa guests is a must.

I think the wife and I would like to go to this. Any one in the South Fl area going, maybe we could meet up and drive up together. We would probably go up on Saturday. What other Hotels are near. We had a very bad exspience with a Radisson in Kissimmee. We won't stay at another. We would do the cruise south,to the end before heading back north then we would head home to Port Saint Lucie.

The closet hotel (across the street) is the Hilton Garden Inn at 1959 N. Alafaya Trail.

Well it looks like I will not be attending on the 5th,

I will be racing at Sebring the following weekend in SCCA, My boss won't give me both Sundays off.........

What I am doing is getting the word out to all of our sold Sky owners so hopefully there will be a bunch of them.
