OVKC Kentucky Run 15 September

The Ohio Valley Kappa Club is having a drive this Saturday, 15 September. They are meeting at the Alexandria, KY Burger King at 9:30, going to Maysville for Lunch, and returning to Cincinnati.

I am driving up from Frankfort, leaving there at 8 AM, taking KY227 and crossing I75 at Dry Ridge by 9 AM to get to Alexandria at around 9:30. Times are approximate. If anyone would like to join me at any point, PM, or better yet, post here. You should also sign up for the drive at http://www.ohiovalleykappas.com/ on the events page.

The drive up KY227 is a run in itself, and well worth making if you can.

My schedule didn't allow time for the concours. The pictures on the OVK website were great. I"m sure you all had a great time. See you Sat.

Wow, what a day yesterday was ! 12 hours, start to finish. 300+ miles, at leat 2/3 of them on the twisties, and most of the rest on curves. A great lunch with some great people, and wine-and-cheese with a lovely lady. What more could one want ?

7:40 Leave home. Top down, heat on, outside temp 40.
8:00 KY227 North. Left, right, left, shift, accelerate, brake, shift, left, right, etc.
8:40 Cross I-75, begin adventure. I found a route on the map, but have never driven it. It looks like a bunch of esses drawn on the map.
9:30 Second missed turn. No sign on the road we are supposed to take, and it looks like a driveway. It is a bunch of esses, with hills and a really rough bridge. The nose didn't break off, but it felt like it did.
10:00 Officially late. Can't see the Burger King if approaching from the South. Bad words spoken. No, shouted into the wind.
10:15 Finally arrive. Thanks Dick, for waiting. I've been driving hard on back roads for 2-1/2 hours, and now we get to start the drive !
11:00 Following Dick and the group. Nice road.
11:30 Rest stop. Wide spot in the road.
12:30 Lunch. Nice restaurant, good food, better company.
3:30 Drive ends, we all head to our own destinations.
4:00 US42/US127 South.
4:30 Elk Creek Winery.
7:00 KY227 South. Right, left, right, shift, brake, accelerate, shift, right, left, etc.
7:40 Home. Heat on again, outside temp 50.

I was absolutely worn out. Lets do it again.

They all missed it !!!!!

I can't believe all the people who are signed up for this group and consistantly miss these runs.

I HAD A BLAST !!!!!!

And I can't wait for the next one (Ky Bourbon Pre-run........ or whatever it's called).

The run was great. The weather was SPECTACULAR !!!!! Nice restaurant on the river for dinner. Wonderful group of people (still don't understand why Kim is with you, JR....................... only kidding).

EVERYONE who lives in the Greater Cincy area (and byond) should check out the Ohio Valley Kappas website that JR has listed in a previous post.

And then join us in the next run.
