Recommend me some roads between Miami and tail of the dragon!
I'm leaving Miami on Thursday morning and heading up to the Dragon. It's not until Saturday though so I'll have a couple of days on the way up and a couple on the way back. I plan on taking as many scenic routes as I can. One of the things I'll be doing is going by the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. I also wanted to drive through Gatlinburg at some point.
Can anyone recommend some other roads and things are worthwhile either going up or heading back? Time and distance are not really a factor other than getting to the Dragon by Friday night and then getting back to Miami by Monday night. |

Here ya go. Try 19 from Atlanta into 129. We did that once before and it was a nice drive with some good twisties.

Right as you leave town
I always loved that gigantic and highly unnessesary one lane HOV ramp right as you enter Miami County... kind of reminded me of Hotwheels tracks.

lol...that thing (I-95 flyover) has been the cause of more accidents and tie-ups than it has resolved. Another wonderful job by Florida DOT traffic engineers. ![]() |

Cool. I see Blue Ridge on that map. Is that the blue ridge parkway? I've only driven a very small section of it one time maybe 7 years ago but it was covered with snow so I don't recall seeing much other than snow. Is it pretty nice this time of year? |

I live in metro Atlanta and drive to the mountains of North Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina to get away from traffic. I always take the Interstate. Although 19 and 129 are nice scenic drives, you will be worn out by the time you get there because of the stop and go through Cities in North Georgia.
In my opinion, take the Interstate to your destination, then take the scenic drives. Save the other scenic drives in North Georgia for another trip.
