Tail of the Dragon-FL group

There seems to be quite a few Florida drivers attending the Tail of the Dragon run in late June. There has been some interest in us forming a group and arriving in force at the event and I can't think of a better way to make that happen than to start this discussion.

I am in Jacksonville but will be driving to Atlanta to pick up my wife to join me. I think I will continue the trip to Robinsville via the GA400 route, kinda get a little mountian driving in on the way to the Tail.

Folks from Tampa, Orlando and points south could establish a meeting point to head north from, drivers from points north should also have a starting point. Both areas could meet at North GA 400 and continue on from there. Dates and times could be determined as we progress with more interest.

Can the Georgia Sols meet you guys along the way as well? We did this last year going to Nationals and it was quite fun. Brentil and the group literally picked me up on the side of the road.

Gotta luv how these things just take on a life of their own.. Of course your welcome to join the charge to the Dragon, in fact it will be more us meeting up with you guys and joining ya'll. . One could go via the interstate but I just think it would be more exciting to use the North GA 400/19 route, and you guys having made this run before would be the best quide money and luck could muster.

First question that comes to my mind is what time is best to plan departure for the rally area to get there in time for the meet and greet dinner?

To go straight thru take about 4 hours. To take the fun twisty route it would take a little over 4 and half hours. The meet and greet is at 7pm so to allow time to settle in and get changed we would need to be there by 5 or 6. So I would say that you guys need to be in Atlanta no later then 1pm.

Looks like there is no interest in getting together to drive to the Dragon from the Florida Group. So I will be leaving a day early to enjoy the ride up and have plenty of time to relax before the M&G. Everyone have a safe trip up and we'll see ya'll there. .

12 days and counting. . . can ya feel the excitement???

I'm not going to be able to meet up with you guys. I'm going up on Wednesday to help setup. Have a safe trip.
