Gonna skip that if you don't mind- I'm aiming for the appearance of productivity today.

I really am getting a lot done, though- I just reserved my room at the Springhill Suites!

Once Cathy and I are ensconced in our new bedroom (Mem Day weekend is completion date) I will assemble a detailed map and Senic sight list for the Route 66 run. I will try to get it as detailed as I can to at least Springfield...

Sound good..
Oh and BTW -- While I see 60 cars for the weekend -- how many are planning any of the RT66 run on Sunday?? Just trying to gauge response...

No idea. I need to update the 60 car list as some of them have dropped off.

Working on the Route 66 run

Drove the 66 run from the Harlem start point through Joliet. I was worried as Joliet is not a tiny town and 66 winds its way through it. I wanted to make sure that we should get through it OK and found the route marked very well and really pretty easy to follow.
Our biggest worry is the start. The park is beautiful, but on the west side and we would have to cross it to get into the northbound lane. Now it will be a Sunday morning and traffic may be somewhat slower (it was not bad this day -- but if 10+ cars are crossing it could take a bit. We may search for a place on the east side....
Other than that it went well. The new interchange at Joliet Road and I355 is great -- again Route 66 is well marked EVEN on the expressway!
I feel real good about this run and can NOT wait for Sunday August 10...
Who is planning to go??
