Great News

I stopped and picked up dinner to go last night ( gator strips & jambalaya combo with a bowl of gumbo $13 ), Ron was busy but we talked for a couple minutes, and I told him we would have a group for a late lunch on the 21st.

Hey...I'm not hearing good things about the flooding around Starved Rock. Sounds like the business district in LaSalle is going to flood if the river crests at 33 ft Tuesday. The Vermillion is supposed to crest tonight and should be OK by Wednesday.

We may have to detour around Old Stage Road.

What's the word up your way?

We will have to see about Old Stage being flooded out, I'm guessing baswed on the curent crest prediction for later in the week we may be ok. The current forecast is for sunny and 77 Sunday.

I have attached the menu from Cajun Connection......

Could be a game time decision for all of us. Every bridge in LaSalle is closed right now due to record flooding. The IL river is at 33.5'. Should be cresting soon. Dee Bennet Road is closed. I'm sure Old Stage is closed, and I'm fairly certain Route 71 in Ottawa is closed right along the river. The report early yesterday said there was already water partially across it and it was expected to be closed sometime late yesterday morning.

Rt 178 in Utica is closed. I'm sure the water will be down by then and Rt 71 will be open, but I doubt Old Stage Road will be open. Let's hope there is no damage to the roadways from the water.

The mini-run is scheduled for this Sunday coming up (21st), if Jade is not ready you can always join in a different vehicle.

The springs are just a slightly stiffer version of the springs Jade currently has on her, and might help the car hold the road slightly better.

I know I-39 was a mess this morning on the way in, they were re-routing traffic from every other bridge in the area, along with the construction it took me about 30 minutes to cross the I-39 bridge.

Right now I am guessing we might have to start via Rt6 instead of old stage, I'll give it try Saturday in the Ranger and post the results.

The rest of route I am going to guess will be high and dry by then.

Well...and after that, I heard the I-39 bridge was also closed due to an accident in Oglesby!

Yup! I heard even the Route 6 bridge is closed in LaSalle so everything has to reroute via the I-39 bridge and I-80. What a mess!

We can try Old Stage. If it's closed, there is a little back road that will get us back up to Route 6. We had to take it on the Tax Day Pre-Run last year.

What time was the accident on I-39, I rolled thru about 8:00-8:30 and it was still foggy as all get out?

It had to be after that. Our scheduler sits next to me and someone called in saying they were having trouble getting down here because the bridge on I-39 was closed. She must have called her around 10:00 am.

Just got home, the north-bound trip heading home took me about 20 minutes to get over the bridge from Oglesby. The south-bound lanes were backed up all the way north of ceder point, about 8 miles north of I-80........

Good information to know! Then I am definitely rescheduling my oil change appointment at the dealer in Peru for tomorrow morning. I'd never make it back in time for my 9:00 pm meeting!
