Nope I'm actually off wedding duty that weekend! The only day I couldn't do it would be Monday, helping a buddy with a party he's throwing but otherwise let me know.

OK, let me see when mike can make it. I'm supposed to sneak over to the Quad Cities one of those days...Sunday I think...and help Smokin Solstice out. So Saturday might be the day.

Look at you running all over the state....sounds good, a buddy of mine just got a new bike so if you guys have no problems having a two wheeler along he would probably taking a crusie out there as well.

I've got no problem with that. Too bad we'll miss the good stuff on Route 71 since it's closed. I still think RustyKnight's tips led me to some nice side roads around Illini State Park. Gonna check them out on Sunday.

Saturday is fine with me, no work for me that day. I've got no plans for the weekend so whenever is okay.

Cool, I'm interested in the side roads you guys have, when I was down there last month we just ended up taking route 6 (i think it was 6 but I'm drawing a freaking blank at the moment) which was a rather boring road.

OK, Saturday...May 24th it is. You guys tell me what time since you're driving down. We can meet up in Morris and run the entire thing.

If anyone else wants in the on the action, feel free to join us!

We had to jump on Rt. 6 for awhile last year. The roads closer to the river are better...when they are open. They should be as we haven't gotten enough rain to flood them yet this year.

You guys know the spot in Morris right? "R" Place at the Rt. 47 exit off of I-80. It's the big truck stop on the northeast corner of the road.

Coming back up to my neck of the woods ay!

I don't care what time we meet as long as it's not the ass crack of dawn...I'm pretty sure I know of the place as well in ye ol Morris. If it's not the place I'm thinking of it sounds easy to find...

Big ol truck stop. Line usually out the door for the food. You can't miss it.

Yeah, I have a wedding to go to up in Lincolnshire tomorrow night, so I'm heading up tomorrow late morning.

For those going to Starved Rock the 7th...

I have talked about this with a couple of people --
If you are going by, near, around I-80 and Harlem (Tinley Park exit - like for the Music Theater) and want to take a more seanic route to Morris Please say so here and I'll set up a meeting place (easy right off I80) and lead ya in! It's a good ride.. Some nice lil towns. some semi-curvy roads and then... Cemetary Road.. !

Couple of things...

I did some scouting last night. Tried to take the detour through Illini State Park. I had the road written down, no map, and ran into some more off roading adventures.

So we may have to do a little more scouting on Saturday to figure this little side trip out! The couple of hard surface roads I found were pretty good, but I had to double back on the one and I think there is another paved road further south that will loop back so I don't have to do that. Our company owner has a really good atlas that shows those roads. I'll make some copies of the area in question this afternoon.

I-80, Exit 112. On the Northeast Corner.
If you're coming from the east. Take a right off the exit. It will be on your right.
Coming from the west - Take a left off the exit (North). Go over I-80. It will be on your right.

Will that time work for those interested? If not, I'm happy to change it!

Great Pre-Run today...I learned a few new things and we ran across a few good finds!

Only 1 small off roading adventure!

We'll probably do a little back tracking through some twisties, but it will be a little more exciting drive than last years. Found a few new roads that were kinda fun.

The best part is the fun part of Route 71 is open. We can make it through the fun, turn around at a nice little pub, and go back through the twisties in the opposite direction!!

Lunch will be at the Starved Rock Lodge. We'll do the cookie tour after lunch for those interested.

I'll post the route either tomorrow or Monday!!
