The 3rd Annual Summer Solstice Columbia River Gorge Meet June 21-22, 2008

To celebrate the Summer Solstice, the Pacific Northwest Solstice/Sky Club will meet on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday June 22, for a driving tour of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge in Oregon and Washington.

We will meet and end in Hood River, Or. at the Starbucks at I-84 and Hwy 35 (Exit 64) at 11:00 am each day. Lunch both days will be at 11:30 at the Riverside Grill at the Hood River Inn, next to Starbucks. There should be a section of the Hood River Inn parking lot reserved for us.
For those of you that have radios, please bring them with you for the event.

Saturday

After lunch on Saturday, we plan to cross over to Washington State for a drive to the Viewpoint at White Salmon, Wa., and then out east to Canyon Rd, over to the Klickitat River Canyon (twistys!). Then out east to the Maryhill Winery, maybe Stonehenge, back to Bingen, Wa., and ending at the Starbucks. The drive will be about 115 miles.

We plan to have dinner together on Saturday night for those folks that want to stay later. Dinner on Sat evening will be at the 3 Rivers Grill at 601 Oak St in Hood River around 6:00 pm. Please PM me to let me know if you will be staying for dinner.

Sunday

After lunch on Sunday, we will stay in Oregon with a drive to Mosier, Or and over Seven Mile Hill Road to The Dalles. Then back west along the Columbia Gorge Historic Highway (twistys!), a stop at Rowena Crest, and then back to Mosier. Next will be a stop at Panorama Point overlooking the Hood River Valley. We will head south to Cooper Spur with a break in Parkdale, OR. Then off for a visit to Cathedral Ridge Winery, near Hood River. The last stop will be back in Hood River at the Starbucks. The drive will be about 100 miles.

Well, The Best Western Hood River Inn is next to the Starbucks that we will be meeting at each day.
