Question Cruising to Ensenada

I was wanting to gauge interest in taking a cruise next September instead of doing the Cherries Jubilee again next year. This is the second year I have done it and although I have had a blast each year it is kind of like been there done that for Ed and I. So this is what I was thinking. We could meet up in the Carmel area (or a meeting point that would be good for everyone) and cruise Hwy 1 down to Long Beach (about 6 to 7 hours) We could then check into a Park and Cruise Hotel that has secure parking. Monday morning board the Carnival Cruise ship for a 4 day cruise to Ensenada Mexico and also Catalina Island. The cost would be about 300.00 per person and rooms are double occupancy. We would also get a 25.00 per cabin credit if we book over 5 rooms and one free room if we book at least 8 rooms (which we would just spread the savings over all the cabins) We would get back into port on Friday and could from that point just hop on Hwy 5 and head back to wherever home is. So let me know if you might be interested. I was thinking we could plan this either the 1st or 2nd week of September 09. Barb

We'll put it on our calendar (our new 2009 WCKCC calendar!) and see how the rest of this year and the first part of next goes. A trip built around the Nationals may have a big impact.

As to meeting up and taking 6-7 hours to get down the coast? Are you kidding? You and I both have cameras and have been known to take a few pictures so we might want to warn folks that 6-7 hours could, COULD, take just a bit longer

It's marked on our calendar

It sounds like a plan. Count us in.

Phyllis has never driven with me down Hiway 1 from the Carmel to Long Beach route. I used to do it all the time when working for CALFIRE.

Add KJSky to the list we can never get enough vacations, maybe we should try to schedule a week or two of work.

I am hoping we can make it. I think it would be a blast! Especially with my Kappa family. When do we have to make the commitment Barb?

I am sort of with Pete with respect to the picture/driving thing. It's a long way to drive without stopping for a pic.

Mike, I have just been fact finding so far. Not sure when we would have to make final arrangements. And yes we could start out earlier and get there later to allow for photo ops on the way down.

There is a group that is doing this May 1-4 (just before Cinco de Mayo). Anyone is invited to participate. As of about a month ago, I think they had more than a dozen cabins reserved so far.

It is posted in the national forum here:
2009 National Kappa Kruise - Baja Mexico - May 1-4

Yeah I saw that, that May date is so close to nationals that I thought September would give all of a chance to maybe go to work for a bit before the cruise.

September would also be a great time to go.

I REALLY wanted to go in May, because it is a REALLY fun group (the same people who plan the San Diego event), but it turns out that my daughter is graduating from college that same weekend, so I can't go.

You might want to connect with the May organizers for ideas, because I know that they are planning lots of fun Kappa activities on the cruise, and that they have reserved a private meeting area for the day at sea.

Cruise time

Count KJSky in for the cruise. We love to be with our Kappa family, also another vacation and no work. Were there.
