Lombard Street [Photo Shoot, San Francisco, Sunday Jan 13th]

I was wondering how many folks would be interested in meeting in San Francisco one Sunday in mid-January and doing a photo shoot with all of our cars lined up on LOMBARD Street..."the crookest street in the world"?

I have started inquiries with the SF Film Commission, and have a call into the Police Sargent who oversees such events. It will cost us some dollars and the actual cost will be calculated once I know how many folks would participate.

So, if you think this is something you'd like to do...let me know which Sunday in mid-January (13th or 20th) works for you and I will take it from there!

Of course, this won't be our only photo op...but it is the one that will cause the most disruption in a neighborhood...we'll work out the rest of the itinerary later!

It would be just the excuse we'd need to run up and/or down PCH again.

You can count on Jeff and myself to be there. Just let us know the details as the date gets closer. Hopefully the weather will cooperate too. Thanks for doing this. BTW, are you going to Pete's (Big Dog) open house on the 8th?

I did speak with the Sargent who will be responsible for our group. As soon as we confirm there are enough participants, I just need to let him know what date (either the 13th or the 20th) and he will meet with me. At that time we will go over the location to "stage" the cars before we head down the curvy part of Lombard

This has the potential to be a lot of fun! Anyone have a Farmers Almanac so we can check the weather forecast for the suggested dates

Sonia ,what ball park figure could we be looking at? We also would be interested. And how many cars can fit on Lombard street? The largest get together has been 15 cars. This may bring out more also since its a SAN FRANCISCO Landmark. Great Idea Kiddo. The 13th is our first pick of days. We could also make the 20th if needed. Keep us informed. ED [Go Thunda]

I'm sure we may get a good number of Sol owners who would like to be a part of this. We should be able to assess a general head count via forum responses we get through both threads. Great Ed/Barb...as for the number of cars that can fit on the street, I don't know. The curvy part of Lombard street is supposed to be 1/4 mile long - so I'll measure my car and do the math which may give us a good idea of how many will fit. If we have to do it in two groups that would be OK I think. We'll cross that "bridge" when we get there!

As for the cost, I didn't get a return phone call from one of the agencies, so I don't even want to put a number out yet - suffice to say, it will be worth our while since we will do more than just Lombard while we are in the City...when I get an idea of the number of cars interested, I will confirm with the Police Sargent and post the estimated costs.

Thanks so much Rudy! Would you mind keeping track of the posts on the Solstice link and updating me?

We will meet up at Pete's on the 8th and recap the responses to-date and maybe the Pete open house attendees can brain storm the rest of the photo op locations in the City.

After we talked last night I thought about a drive I did earlier in the fall. Niles hopped out to try and get a shot of me coming down Lombard - didn't work but this idea is terrific. Count us IN!

Any day would work for us and I have it on good authority that the rain gods will take any Sunday in January off to accomodate us!

Does that bring back memories...Lombard street. I used to hang out in several bars on Lombard ...way back in 65-67....that street was the entrance to the Presidio and I still have many pics going down the crookedest street...I WANT TO COME!

Michael, I think you and your family deserve a little vacation down memory lane...book your tickets - looks like we will go with the 13th of January. And we know that AVIS rents SKY's so maybe if you put in your order now you can actually be part of the parade!!!
