Reconnaissance Trip to Alpine Lake [April 26, 2008 Northern California]

Some of our WCKCC buddies called and wanted to take a drive on Saturday, so we turned it into a reconnaissance trip for a future run. We thought we could start in Angels Camp, head up Hwy 4 through Calaveras Big Trees then on to Lake Alpine, then cross over on 89 through Markleeville to hwy 88 and down to Jackson. We were unable to make the full loop since neither Ed or I or Ken and Judy (KJSky) had 4 wheel drive or chains. The road is still closed at Lake Alpine. We could turn it into a great drive and lunch. So let me know if we have any takers. Maybe in August. I will post some pics to show you just how pretty it is up there. Barb

That is a gorgeous drive - wish we wouild have gone with you - we've been that way before just to kill a Saturday. All you'll need to do is find a spot for ice cream - we just can't do a lunch run without it (Yes Fred - I still hold you responsible for adding an ice cream stop to our runs!)

If I can put my request in - any week in Aug except 8/16 to 24.

Looks beautiful...count me in!

Ok...now I am confused BigDog you have "in Aug except 9/16-24"...seems to me if I recall correctly "9" is September' August is "8".

So are you not available in September or is it really August? We want to be sure you are available (we've been missing you of late)

I am a lousy rep since I don't have the calendar in front of me! Isn't there a re-run up to Pt. Arena in August? Maybe this would/could take the place of Pt. Arena?

And off-topic - sorry about the Sharks
