SoCal SKYs THIRD ANNUAL BEACH CRUISE - June 28th! [So Cal]

Okay, we are a GO!

I finally got off my butt and got the approval from Saturn of Huntington Beach as a launch point for the Third Annual SoCal SKYs Beach Cruise!

How amazing is that? The THIRD annual gathering of SKYs to cruise along the beach! Here are all the details...

Saturday, June 28th 2008

...will be a re-enactment of the drive that started it all two years ago... This isn't a high-speed, heart-pounding, twisty canyon drive. It is, rather, a mellow Saturday Drive along perhaps the finest stretch of beach drive anywhere - Pacific Coast Highway

START
Saturn of Huntington Beach
18801 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach
11:30AM

You can arrive as early as 11:30 AM just to hang out and chat. This will be our assembly area, and Saturn of HB is kind enough to host us again like they did the last two years. Have lunch before you arrive (there are lots of places in the area).

We will depart for the drive around 2:00 PM!

The DRIVE
Beach Blvd to Pacific Coast Highway

This is a really nice drive through lots of beach communities. Be prepared to draw stares. We will proceed through Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point and stop at Capistrano State Beach (where I like to stop and get some great pictures - see below!) Then we will continue on down through San Clemente, hop on the I-5 through Camp Pendleton, then get back on the beach for a final short coastal drive through Carlsbad and Encinitas. Then it's back on the I-5 North to TGI Friday's in Carlsbad and we will end the day there.

Dinner

After a nice drive along the beach nothing beats a good dinner. This year we will end again at the TGI Friday's in Carlsbad so we don't go too late or too far south. I figure we will get here around 5PM or so for anybody from way down south that just wants to meet us for dinner.

Ahhhh man, Wish we could be there it would be nice to meet some other Sky club members and get some more pointers on starting a new club here in Idaho, but have a Family Reunion picnic that same day in Riverside. The good thing is that we will be able to make the Wild African Safari run up north on the 22nd starting at Napa, on our way down to the reunion. Maybe next year! Anyway have a great, safe, fun run !!!!!!

Just got an update from Saturn of HB - they will have some chilled down drinks and water for us, and a plate of cold cuts and other goodies too.

Well I think that cold/flu/food poisoning I was worried about getting has finally kicked in, pretty sure I won't be able to make it to work tomorrow. I think this weekend I should get some fresh air to help me feel better !!!

There is a slight possibility I can make it. It all depends on the time I'm finished with this run I knew about before this Sky run...

It starts early in the day so there maybe a chance for me to meet up with you guys at 2. So maybe see you there, maybe not.
