Your Options

Visit the Cherry's Jubilee website to download the registration form for the Sports Car/Special Interest package. The parade laps are very cool. There are a lot of other perks that come with the package.

The WCKCC is billing this meet as a stand-alone event. The Cherry's Jubilee is an activity that many of us will be participating in, but it is totally optional.

You can just pay the general admission fee, walk through the car show, vendor and food booths. Or, pay for the full package and participate in all the Jubilee has to offer. Or, just meet us outside of the event to cruise with the club and join us for dinner and our meeting.

We will have a meeting spot designated outside of the Jubilee. We will hook up with the folks who just want to experience an awesome drive, good eats, and great people.

For those that want to join us in the "General Admission" area of the Jubilee, you can pay your $10 at the gate. For those that want to take full advantage of what Cherry's Jubilee has to offer, go to their website and register. Welcome to Cherry's Jubilee

The General admission fee allows you to be a spectator. We can walk among the "cherry" old autos, the sports cars, and bikes, pay a separate fee to sit co-pilot in a racing Porsche for a few laps, check out all the vendor booths, etc.
The Package allows you to be a participant in the show along with many other perks including parade laps on the track in your own car.

Again, this WCKCC meet will be very cool on its own. The Cherry's Jubilee will be a fun activity to go along with our meet.

Everything is optional, (except the drive/cruise –ya gotta join us for that)

Sept 5th / Friday evening: Show’n Shine - Calle Principal Downtown Monterey (on your own)

Sept. 6th / Saturday: Meet in the parking lot of the Quality Inn (CA322)
144 Kern St. , Salinas, CA, US, 93905 | Phone: (831) 758-8850 Fax: (831) 758-3611

approximately 8:30 AM. We will caravan over to Laguna Seca Raceway for the Cherry’s Jubilee at 9:00 AM.

REMEMBER, you do NOT need to pay the full Jubilee registration package fee. It only costs $10 admission at the gate.

The Jubilee Package includes an event T-shirt, hat, dash plaque, goody bag, discount coupons, pit pass, pancake breakfast, and parade laps; @ $95 per car = (two adult admissions). You can pay this at the door if you do not pre-register with them, but it will be a $10 more. Keep in mind, the worthy charity your fee is supporting. Welcome to Cherry's Jubilee

After enjoying the festivities, (Antique car show, Bike show, Live Music, Vendor booths, Hot Laps in Porsche race cars, Parade laps in our cars, etc.), we will have lunch at the Jubilee. There are a variety of food booths to choose from.

We will be leaving the Jubilee approximately 2:00pm.
We will meet up with other Solstice and Sky owners who did not attend the Jubilee, but still want to party.
The meeting place is
LAGUNA SECA ENTRANCE & EXIT, SOUTH BOUNDARY ROAD
Entrance (exit) is off Canyon Del Rey, the South Boundary Road. Signs will be placed in both directions of Highway 68 as well as Canyon Del Rey

We will take a right and follow the 218 to Del Monte Ave. We will take a left, (south) through Monterey past Fishermans Warf along Cannery Row.

From there we will continue south along the coast through Pacific Grove. We will take Sunset Blvd. and enter 17 Mile Drive, ($9.25 per car)

We will have some photo ops at Pebble Beach and the Lone Cypress.

We will continue on 17 Mile Dr to Carmel. We will take Ocean Blvd to Hwy 1. There we will head south on Hwy 1 for a short distance and take a left on Carmel Valley Rd.

This is a safe portion of Carmel Valley Rd. We are only taking it as far as Laureles Grade where we will take a left back to Hwy 68.

Once on Hwy 68 we will take a right and follow it back to home base for dinner and our meeting.

Depending on the time we will either go back to our room to freshen up or head straight to Mountain Mikes Pizza for dinner and our MEETING. Dinner is at 7:00pm, lots of time

Private Message me for my Cell Number. Who knows, you could be running late and might want us to wait for you.

Sept.7th / Sunday: Many will head back to the Jubilee for the Pancake Breakfast. Others will do Breakfast on their own. I hope to meet back at the Quality Inn lot around 10:00 to caravan home South down Hwy 1. Others might want to caravan North up Hwy 1, or take Hwy 68 to Hwy 101 for a speedy return home.

Pending further investigation: I do not know if this road is open due to the Big Sur fires
For those of you ready for an adventure, follow me down Coast Hwy 1 to Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd. This is cruise really a treat. Redwood groves, majestic views and invigorating curves will just some of the memories you will bring back from this drive. You and your co-pilot MUST have your ID, registration, and proof of insurance to pass through Fort Hunter Ligget Military Reserve. We will exit on Jolan Rd just west of King City/Hwy 101. From there you can head home on Hwy 101 either North or South.

If you have not sent in your registration, form please do so. Here is the link to our membership application, http://westcoast.kappacarclub.org/pu...er_app_v5c.pdf
The registration form can be downloaded from a post farther up on this thread.
You can also find the form on our website under “future event.” West Coast Kappa Car Club (Solstice, Sky, Opel GT)
We will have forms available at the event if you can not turn your in in time. Registration is $5 for Members and $10 for non-members. Per CAR this time-NOT per PERSON

There are still many rooms available in the area at reasonable rate.

We look forward to seeing you.

Again a wonderful job

Sal, again you've done a terrific job of informing everyone about Cherries

Unfortunately my schedule doesn't permit participating this year...I am looking forward to all of the terrific pictures and stories

Sal, we are booked at the Quality Inn and most likely will purchase the Jubilee Package even though we do not care about the t-shirt, hat, dash junk or the pancake breakfast. (I remember the parking for 'general admission' was on dirt ) Looking forward to the parade laps again. We will get registered soon.

Friday night we plan to have dinner on the pier in Monterey and take in all the cars & trucks at the Show'n Shine. We did this last year and it was fun.

We've booked a room at the Quality Inn too and registered for the Jubilee package. We'll prolly wander down on Friday evening and head home Sunday morning. Looking forward to the pace laps so I can show Mrs Bigdog (yes, we need to get her a nickname!) the track that I am always yakking about.

Looking forward to seeing my Kappa family for another fun week-end

Cool!
This is gearing up to be a great meet.
I will try and get there and meet up on Friday as well.

Oh....by the way,

I have mice in my car,
I do not know where he, (they) are getting in.

Three times know I have opened my trunk and found a mouse nest up on the metal area where the hinges are.

Has anyone else experiences this?

Any suggestions?

Sal, check the two rubber water drain tubes from the back of the top that attach to the floorpan. They tend to pull out of the hole in the floorpan on my car and that may be where they are entering the trunk area. Check these tubes often because if they aren't thru the hole you may get water in the trunk.

WCKCC Please support this event.

This is one of the Top Events of this year. If your are from the North, Central, or Southern chapter of the WCKCC. I personally would like to meet more of our Southern club members. Since this is our largest event in the Central district this is a prime time to meet. Please make plans to attend for this worthy event. Thanks . ED [Go Thunda]

I personally don't recall an unfortunate event last year. I had a great time before and after, regardless of playing bumper cars. Besides look what I got out of it. there's a reason for everything or that truck would not have been there. I think Carmel Valley road was a blast to drive and I would do it again, but with something going not as planned years in a row, I agree with the concern and avoidance.

Have a great and safe time and for anyone on the fence about going, I strongly recommend it. Wish I could join in as well and I look forward to seeing the pics.

We miss you guys.

Gunny

Good to hear from you Gunny. I was one of 2 cars that choose to go on the famous 17 mile drive that fateful day. Our car was still very new then and we didn't want to take the other road. We were so glad we didn't! I must say your composed attitude then as it is now was to be admired.

We wish you could be there this year too.

Bill

Gunny, you never cease to amaze me. I guess the military teaches you more than courage, honor and discipline. I am sure your mother and father had a lot to do with making you the man you are.

Hey, I sent that cool picture of your blue demon, (the one under that huge rock overhand in Santa Barbara), to Gothunda for the WCKCC calendar. My picture was a poor copy. If you can send her a better copy, that would be great.

Hey Sal,

Thank you. Barb wrote me yesterday for a copy of it. I'm honored that you all are including me in this great product as a former member.

I honestly have to say I owe my outlook on things more to my parents than the military. That is a key factor to how each individual grows during and comes out of basic training with varying additudes. But, over my time in the service, I have increasingly learned that what always seems to be a big problem or upsetting at first is usualy not that bad and you waste more time dwelling over it than just fixing it. Lifes to short and Kappa permagrin always prevails .
