Willow Springs Race Day - May 19th

In case any of you Sky drivers are interested in having a chance to drive your car on road racing course, check out the attached web sites. There is a fast driving school and race day at the Willow Springs Speedway (in Rosamond, CA) on May 19th. $265 for a couple of hours of instruction (including heel/toe technique) and a full day of driving your car on a racing road course seems to me to be a pretty good deal. There will be a number of Miata/RX5s there as the soCal Miata club is planning to participate in this event.

If you would like to participate, the event is limited to 30 drivers, so consider registering soon before all the available slots are take. I've registered to run my Solstice. I think it would be great if Sky and Solstice and Sky owners made a good showing. It will be fun.

Check out these sites.

Sunday has been opened up for a few spots and may be of interest to folks who couldnt get into Saturdays session. They expect these spots will be unavailable later today, so if you want to get in, best to call up pretty quick.

Most times, you run clockwise. It's a bit easier, because the bowl is then an INCREASING radius turn instead of a DECREASING radius turn.

I've run the track in both directions, but only once in the counter clock wise direction. It takes a bit of getting used to, and I was not really sure where the line was on some of the turns.

It's fun both ways. See you Saturday!

I've always only ran the track counter clock wise. Its a blast. I'll have to try clock wise.

From the vids I saw, counter looked harder. Is that that case? I felt a ton of improvement from beginning to end, although I'll need a few more times to be happy with the results.

Great seeing you guys out there, vfx & Betaboy. Did both your cars' brakes fade at the end? Just curious. I know I wasn't perfectly smooth from inexperience, but it felt like the brake upgrade did what it was supposed to as I had the same feel for brakes throughout the day.
