Won at a cruise-in today !

Attended a car cruise-in with 25+catagories today.
The funny thing is I kept saying that I wanted a day of rest and did not want to go anywhere
and finally let myself get talked into going to this car show because all the proceeds were going to charity.
And I ended up being the one to walk away with with 2 trophies !
I got 1st place in 1981 & above and in Sports Car.
(The best part is that I beat out ricers & Corvette's in both )

That is so cool, it must feel awesome! Especially beating out the ricers and Corvettes part!

Call me a party pooper but I don't see why one would get excited about winning a show with a basically stock car. Anybody can buy a Sky....

Your right, anybody can buy a Sky. I go for the Charity end, i have been to several that i won nothing, fine, but every person that comes up to the Sky says only great things about the Sky, espeically the color Bluestone, that is good enough for me and mine is all stock....

....I did appearence mods only and i have two trophies.Like my trainer told me "less is more". and besides, when you do mods, mods, mod, you can ruin your car and void the warranty...

I would be excited because I would'nt have spent a boatload on mods and walked away with the same trophy. Anyone can mod a Sky just like anyone can buy a Sky. It's the same as someone putting up a video because of a new exhaust, they're proud. Congrats on your win!!

Yeah but you're being awarded on what the factory did, not what you did. I've won a few trophies myself but the car was heavily modded and the only one like it.
I posted the video because I'm pretty sure I was one of the first to make an exhaust as opposed to buying one so yeah I felt like showing it off a bit I guess.

FYI - I have done a number of custom touches to my car.
Many of them are appearance but there are also a few performance mods.
But I will do nothing that would void my warranty until it is up.
The mods are not in my signature but there are posts scattered throughout the forum discussing some of them.

BTW - hubby & I have shown cars for years.
And this is the first one that we have ever shown that was not something we tore apart & rebuilt or rescued from heading to a crusher.
(We currently also have a show car that was a "rescue".)

So - I can guarantee you from experience that the appearance mods have more of an impact than the performance mods.
Appearance & presentation are the most important parts of showing a car.

And just about any Sky/Sol driver will be happy at winning over Corvette's, Datsun/Nissan Z's, and other "ricers".

Ah, I was just going off what you have in your sig, which isn't much. A trophy is a trophy though.

Thats the main reason I stopped going to car shows. I like cars that are built to impress on the street and track, not a parking lot. Oh well.

Unless you hand built all the mods then you are being awarded for someone else's work as well no?

Regardless of who made the parts, I still put them on. Aside from maybe Chip Foose, who hand makes all their mods anyways?

The point is, I would find it difficult being proud of earning a trophy on a car that is basically untouched unless its for "nicest stock car"
