If you plan to join us, please add your name to the list - it's sure to be a terrific WCKCC day; you don't have to be a WCKCC member to participate so if you schedule permits we'd love to have you join us.
Barb/Ed (Go Thunda) will be maping out some routes for us once we get into Yosemite - so watch for her post.

I am kicking myself. We were looking forward to this run but, well, stuff happens.

Yosemite is my favorite place on earth, and going up there is one of the reasons I joined WCKCC in the first place. Unfortunately, I already have a camping trip to Kennedy Meadows planned for that weekend.
Some time we should do the drive up 108 to Sonora Pass! That is some amazing country and the road is very lightly travelled (see enclosed pic)
Have a great time, and take lots of pics!

You know Paul, one just has to establish appropriate priorities.....from your first sentence above and your decision to go camping, I would suspect you still need to sort some things out.
(Please realize....I have an odd sense of humor....)
Even though we have only met the once, I am going to miss you and Tracie. Have a great trip! I am sure we will catch up with you two some time in the near future.

Sorry you can't make our Yosemite drive however, the club always welcomes suggestions for drives and 108/Sonora pass sounds great
Why don't you check out the calendar on WCKCC.org - pick a couple of dates to suggest to our members (and visitors/friends alike) pull together a little itinerary and post a thread on 108 Sonora Pass? .

I am waiting to see a post from our dedicated WCKCC members, Gothunda, (Barb / Ed), and SXY SKY in CA, (Sonia) who took dry run to yosemite today to check out the route and see if Glacier Point was open or still closed due to snow.
My wife and I made reservations at the Yosemite Lodge for Friday night. We hope to arrive early enough to take a hike or two and check out the waterfalls.
We will meet everyone at the Deli around 11:30 Saturday morning.
My wife will have a Turkey sandwich on sourdough.
I will have a Tuna sandwich on a french roll or equivalant.
We will be driving home Saturday night, (about 5 hrs). Depending on how extensive our club run is Saturday afternoon, we might need to cut out to head home before it gets too late in the afternoon.
This promises to be another memerable day with dear friends and grins from ear to ear.

Ed and I went to Yosemite today for a pre-run for the May 3rd run. It was a beautiful day, we also did a little recruiting while we were there, we actually ran into a very nice couple from the Sacramento area that have had there Sky for a month, then we saw a Red Solstice parked by Hetch Hetchy and put a WCKCC card under the wiper blade! The park was the most congested I have ever seen it today which was a bummer, we had a really hard time finding parking in the valley today. I spoke to a Ranger and explained our club was coming in 2 weeks (he actually remembered us from our run in Oct) he explained to me that part of the congestion was due to the fact that the valley floor is the only place with open roads right now, Glacier Point and Tuolumne Meadows were both closed and may not be open in 2 weeks. There is also a major road construction job underway and we waited 30 minutes getting into the park and about 10 minutes getting out. We took a detour on the way home to Hetch Hetchy which is 15 miles off the main road down to the Dam, it was a very nice drive and you can actually walk out onto the Dam. I am including some pics for everyone. So this is my scouting report. Barb
Barb/Ed thanks so much for doing this...and the information you've provided is invaluable.
Would you be able to give a call to the Park on the Wednesday before May
3rd. and find out if the roads have opened? Then we can decide before hand which way we will go; the Deli + Hetch Hetchy + The Meadows + Glacier Point or the Deli and off to Hetch Hetchy.
We are always up for an adventure...so whichever route we take it is certain to be a great time and thank goodness for the longer days (more time we can spend driving our cars and stopping for photo ops)!
