Rocky Mountain Solstice and Sky Club goes formal

The Rocky Mountain Solstice and Sky Club would like to announce that it has elected its first board of officers and is now operating under a formal set of by-laws and procedures. The member elected board includes:
President, Van Capansky
Vice President, Ken Schmidt
Treasurer, Richard Martin
Board Member, Shawne Dette
Secretary, Rob Coach

The club was started as an informal group of enthusiasts with similar interests by John and Carol White in 2006 and has grown under their leadership to the point where it was decided that we needed to have a formal club with elected officers. John and Carol are currently leading the efforts to complete coordination for the 2009 meet in Colorado. This activity is not currently a formal Club sponsored activity but is being supported by a number of individuals including some members.

We are continuing the formalization process currently, looking at options for liability insurance, formal incorporation and potentially forming an alliance with a national organization.

RMSS Club has active members from Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, New Mexico and Colorado. The Club has held cruises to Idaho Springs and to Deadwood this season and currently has two additional cruises in the planning stages for July / August with plans for more on the horizon.
