Wild Bill Days, Deadwood - June13-15

"Wild Bill Days" Deadwood, South Dakota:
This is an unbelievably popular event and rooms are usually booked up 2 to 3 months in advance. If you are at all interested, I strongly suggest you at the very least, book a room immediately at a Hotel of your choice in the area. If it turns out you can't go, then you can always cancel a day or two before and it won't cost you anything. If you don't do it soon, you will definitely miss one of the best cruises you'll ever be asked to join! Here is the preliminary itinerary.
Friday, June 13 - Leave Denver around 8:00AM – Pickup/ rendezvous with other members as we head north into Wyoming (I-25, Exit at US18/US20 toward Lusk, At Lusk turn North on US 18/US 85 through Newcastle, follow US 85 into Deadwood). It is about 375 miles/6hr.-45min. ride from Denver. I have allocated an hour for lunch stop; another hour for photos; and an extra hour for unforeseen delays. That makes arrival time around 5 to 6 PM. check in to your Hotel, rest up, and clean up.
We’ll meet for dinner and drinks at the Deadwood Social Club around 7:30 PM.
Saturday, June 14 - Breakfast at the Bullock Hotel between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM - Leave for Mt. Rushmore around 8:30 AM. It is about 47 miles, or 1 hr. 15 min. to Keystone (Mt. Rushmore) via US 385/US 16 and SD 244, but we will allocate 2 hours because the drive is gorgeous and photos are a must.
Depart Rushmore at around 12:00 Noon and travel the "Needles Highway" . To completely enjoy the Needles, Tunnels, and Sylvan Lake, we'll make it take us about 2 hours to get into Custer. That would make it around 2:00 PM, and a late lunch.
From Custer we continue up to Crazy Horse Monument (about 10 minutes) and spend an hour there.
Return to Deadwood for a night on the town beginning with dinner at the Morning Star * , Kevin Costner's place. The rest of the evening can be spent doing the town!
Sunday, June 15 - Breakfast from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM at the Bullock or other - depart for home via the southern route that will take us down and over to Jewel Cave National Monument.
All of this is still to be finalized once we know who, how many, and from where they are coming. Just let me know if you're interested and need more information your Host, pirate60

Yep Better Hurry!

We made our reservations for the June 13-15 Black Hills Cruise last night. pirate60 was right, the Hotel he got reservations for was full, but we did find 3 hotels that still had rooms- the Fairfield Inn- Spearfish ($93+), Best Western-Black Hills Lodge-Spearfish ($107+), and the place we took, the Days Inn- Spearfish ($84.60+). We labeled the stay Rocky Mountain Solstice/Sky Club at the Days Inn.

So if you think you might want to go on pirate60's Cruise to the Black Hills, I would strongly advise you make your reservations ASAP.

I won't know until the end of the month if I can go. Hopefully I will. I have some contractors up there I deal with on a weekly basis that I have never met and would like to. Plus I used to be stationed at Ellsworth AFB and love love love the Black hills. Used to be my play ground. I know some good spots up there.

So mark me down as a maybe

This is my old stomping ground, and would love to go. I don't know if I'll be able to go that weekend, though we will be hitting Deadwood a couple of time throughout the season. Mark us as a "maybe" for now.

FWIW, we usually don't take I-25 all the way up. We take the Gurnsey cut-off, scoot over to Hartville, and take 270, and up through Manville, then to Lusk. Of course, not as many heads to turn on this route, but the roads are more fun. (and, if you go through Laramie, take Sybille Canyon for a little extra fun).

Man this sounds like a great ride. Will actually be in North Dakota in late May but unfortunately won't be able to make it back up there in June. Maybe we can plan this for next year.

Well I hope that all of you in the next 2 1/2 months can get your schedules set so that we can meet. Here's hoping to see ya! According to one of our members , there are still rooms available.

See YA in Deadwood for the Wild Bill Days!

I'm working on reservations for this trip. We have decided to drive to Denver from Omaha and hook up with the group there. What part or area in Denver will everyone from the club be gathering Friday morning? We're actually going to get to Denver on Wed sometime and spend a few nights there. Need suggestions for reasonable hotel, and any suggestions on things to do/sights to see Thursday? Any suggestions?

Thought we were going in late May, but now I find myself there the first full week of June . Still going to miss what sounds like a great ride to go on. Have a great time and tip one up for the rest of us that can't be there.

Pamjcoleman; I'm the host for the cruise and have all the latest info. The run will start at our home in the NE area of Denver very near the airport (Away from all traffic-well, almost anyway) Several hotels nearby. I can direct you if needed. Please, please, be sure you have room in Deadwood area . Filling up very fast. May have to stay in Rapid City or Spearfish but those are going quickly as well. I still have access to about 4-5 rooms but they are $155 a night. Email me directly at: randbmartin at comcast.net

Looks like we are a go, too! We'll probably hook up in Lusk, but not sure yet.

Made our reservations at the Mineral Palace. FYI, the Hampton Inn/4 aces still had some rooms at $225!!

Whitefang...do you have an updated list of folks planning to attend? I think we'll meet the crew in Lusk, so do you have an ETA from Denver?

Hey Whitefang.... do you have any point of contact for the trip? We will be heading up from Eastern Nebraska via I-29 then across I-90 into Spearfish. I'd like to know how and who to get a hold of upon our arrival. If you have a list of cell phone numbers or anything, please PM me with them. Tha
