renting track (Hallett near Tulsa)

I'm thinking about renting the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit track late Feb or March. It depends on how many people are interested, and if I can get the price low enough. I am thinking about setting it up more like a Kappa meet.

I plan on setting it up with three maybe four sessions. Each session will be 20-25 minutes on the track. You should be able to get 4-5 sessions. The track is much cheaper to rent during the weekdays (Tues-Thrus). Two sessions will be grip (like club racing) and the other one or two sessions will be drift. If you just want to take it easy around the track, one of the sessions will be SST (Slow Speed Touring), the other is HST (High Speed Touring) for more experienced people. I dont think there will be that many drifting, but I do know few people that will be doing tandem drifting and they competed in proam. So it should be fun to watch, if you just want to come and hang out.

Who is willing to drive? For those that want to watch, I think there is an entrance fee, I think its only a couple bucks.

Price depens on the number of people driving. below is the proxitmate price.
# drivers - $ per driver
5 - 300
10 - 200
20 - 150
30 - 135

Right now I have 5 drivers, but I would like to get it to 20. Im waiting for the track owner to send me the track schedule, so the date is up in the air.

Info about the track and includes the track rental prices:

Sounds like you have a sweet deal. I wish you were closer to SC. They dont have a problem with the lack of rollbar? -J

Good question... Ive been to a few events that they hosted for HST. They do not require roll bars for those events, so I assumed they would not have a problem. I will double check.

Add me to the list!

I do know the first weekend in April is the Corinthian Vintage meet, so that date will be out. The entry fee is $7.00 per person for the Corinthian meet, half price if your driving a Vintage car. Contact this club http://www.mars-cars.com/ and see how many of them might be interested. Can our 06 Pumpkin Corvette play also add 2 to your list!

From the Hallet Web Site http://www.hallettracing.net/
For the High Speed Touring Series:
You may have heard it called Open Tracking before, but here at Hallett, we call it High Speed Touring. HST is your chance to drive your car on a real road race course at an affordable cost.
It's easy to qualify you and your car for HSTS lapping at the Hallett Circuit. Here's the deal: You must become a member of the Competition Motor sports Association (COMMA), our track club, at $35 a year (it's a good deal, trust us). ANY street-legal car (except SUV's, trucks, wagons, vans) can be used WITHOUT normal race prep...no roll cage, race driver restraint harness or no driving suit are required. No prior competition driving experience is required for this non-race series.
Then you show up at the Hallett Control Building mid-morning of any COMMA event day to register and attend a short driver orientation. You must wear a Snell approved safety helmet (we'll help you acquire one) and you must wear a long sleeve shirt and long pants while you drive on track. You'll get FIVE 15-minute on-track sessions per event day for just $95 (a super bargain for any major road racing course).

This is a GREAT deal.
You may want to purchase a helmet if you plan on doing this again.

This would be considered a cheap helmet... remembering that a helmet is insurance, which is also gambling. The house is betting you're not going to use your helmet; you're betting you are. This is a lower end helmet. He shamed and embarressed my mother-in-law into buying us two Arais for $850. They also look much cooler. I doubt she''ll be as generous with you strangers, which sends you back to Summit. -J

The COMMA events they have at Hallett are great events... But the only down side is, there is alot of cars on the track at one time (20-30). But it is fun passing alot of cars, it just sucks if you get stuck behind someone who has a fast striaght line car and then the go very slow around the corners. We will only be allowed to have five cars on the track at one time (track insurance reasons). So you shouldnt have to fight much traffic. Any car is welcome.

I rented the track March 26th (Wed). You can show up the night before and camp, which I will most likely be doing with a few other folks. No roll bar required, all you need is a helmet and a long sleeve shirt. Below is the actual price, I also broke it down by the number of people. There is not a fee for visitors or a track access fee. There will be transponders that we can use to track our lap times. I told them we could keep it to five cars on the track at one time so we will not have to purchase additional insurance. (the insurance only covers any damage to the track) Rules are the same as the HST/COMMA. Can only pass on the straights, there will be corner workers so you will need to know what the flags mean. I will have a drivers meeting at 10am.

Its $1105 for the track
$300 for corner works
$70/hr for ambulance. I figured we would have them for 7-8hrs 10-5 maybe 10-6.

ttl $1895-$1965

# driver : price per person
5 : $379-$393
6 : $315-$328
7 : $270-$281
8 : $236-$246
9 : $210-$219
10 : $218-$197
11 : $172-$179
12 : $158-$164
13 : $146-$152
14 : $135-$141
15 : $126-$131
16 : $118-$123
17 : $112-$116
18 : $105-$110
19 : $99-$104
20 : $95-$99

I will be paying for the track up front, I haven’t decided if I will require money before the track day. I’m thinking about just waiting till the drivers meeting, that way I will know exactly how many people will be there, so it will make it easier to split the cost evenly.

Its a done deal. You can see the date reserved on the Hallett's webpage on March 26th. They are let me put a deposit down, so I dont have to come up with the full amount until on the track day. So try to be there at 10am, I will do a head count then split it up even. I can gaurantee it will be $200 or less. I will pay the extra if I get less than 10 people. I expect it to be closer to $150 each, but you never know... If you want to pay $200 early let me know. If we get more than 10 people then it will be less than $200 each, I will refund what you paid extra.

See you at the track... I will send a reminder post a week before...

I will have to see if I can work it into my schedule at work, but I would love to come out (even if I don't "Race")

Yes! sorry for the late response. The weather looks like it will be good... so far. If anybody has any questions or you show up and the gates not open or cant find anybody you can call me at 214-882-8774. I will be up there the night before so the gate should be open all night.

PS there is no charge at the gate so its free to watch and hang out.

Wahoo what a day at Hallet

Thanks a Billion Thomas! All of you that missed this event you missed ALL the fun. For the few that made it out we had the track to ourselves, heck I got tired of driving it's a lot harder work then you think. For the guys in the rental car now I know why I should never buy one. Even if I was the slowest car in the pack and everyone even the rental car passed me I still was, "In the Race" no one lapped me We needed more novice newbies a slow pack, heck I needed someone driving slower then me so I could pass someone
Looking forward to all the pictures, need to get the car cam from Harry in his Porsche he only passed me two or three different times
