Why three?

As a new Sky owner ( picked car up 2-11-08) I am wondering why they put three cup holders in the car. Maybe they could have put some padding on the rock between the seats to save the elbow.

This is also a simple posting teat as it is my first post & test to this list.

Congrat's on your new ride.

I've heard the cup holder on the passengers side area was meant to hold the "smoker's package" ashtray and that it wasn't really necessarily designed to hold beverages. After trying to use it a few times, I totally agree.

Congrats on the new SKY!

I just purchased on 2/09. The third cup holder near the shifter is worthless.

I haven't yet found a cup that will fit it without wobbling all over the place. Where in north Texas. I am in Lavon, northeast of Rockwall/Wylie. I hope to join the Metro Sky Club soon.

I use the one by the glove box whenever I have a drink in the car and I have had no problems with it. I guess I should knock on wood now. If I happen to use the ones in the back I usually bump my elbow into them.

Just try driving, putting in, and retrieving a drink from the cup holders behind your elbow. Talk about taking your eyes off the road.

I guess the engineer's thought that people who like to drive sports cars don't like to conveniently enjoy a beverage while they drive!

This almost kept me from getting this car!!

Drink driving technique.

In the waterfall. Driver drink should be in the furtherest holder to cut down the angle of the reach. Vice versa for the Passenger. Glove box holder should be used by the driver when there is no one in the passenger seat. If there is someone on the passenger seat then the drink holder should remain closed for fear of it being completely broke off. A nice, neat, black , folded up, micro fiber towel should be placed on the Arm Rest to provide cushion for the elbow. Hanging from the front seat on the bottom cushion should be a Kappasphere pouch for additional storage.

Two things, you should put on your schedule the Fort Worth TMS run discussed on this thread and you might want to consider coming to south Texas for the Guadalupe run in May.

there are 3 cup holders in the sky. because they had a surplus of cup holders after making the Opel GT (there are NO cup holders in the GT just blanking panels)

Yeah, but you GT's get built in ash trays... Oh, wait. We got the better end of that deal. Well, from my stand point at least.

I don't smoke but I can't imagine trying to light or smoke a cigarette with the top down.

I've had no problems with the cupholder near the shifter. I don't eat out that often, but when I do hit the drive thru I haven't had a cup spill or fall out of that cup holder.

they give you 3 because the one by the passenger's knee is designed from the factory to be a POS. Mine broke 3 months after I purchased the car. A large dunkin coffee fits nicely in it though.

Just a little wobble, but if any spills it at least matches the interior and smells better than new car smell.

This thread makes me uncomfortable. The only drink I allow in my Sky is bottle water. Thinking of coffee and drive thru drinks in there just makes me shiver.
