2008 now listed on saturncanada.com

Sorry I dont follow this all that closely but I just noticed they are listed. Anyone received GM Employee pricing - is the the typical 15% or so off? The US vs Canada is about $10K. Big price to pay but the warranty appears to be really needed in this case.

The Gm Employee rebate does not apply to a Sky or Solstice....The * employee* rebate has been there for years only on selected vehicules.

You might be able to get a suppliers discount as I did but some dealers will not give it to you. But it is worth shopping around if you qualify.

I can tell you as I write this from a GM plant in St. Catharines Ontario that in fact you CAN get the employee discount in Canada. Both option 1 and option 2 are available on both the Solstice and the Sky.

When the car first came out it wasn't available for a discount but it is now.

I am at home now and I don't have a number to give you and the discount varies by vehicle. As a GM employee at option 1 you get the factory invoice price. That phone number will be available through your dealer. Your Dad will have to call GM to set up the discount. GM feels that they have to check on the eligibility of those getting the discount.

According to the GM Employee website the discount is available on both the Sky/Sky RL and Sol/SolGXP. But the problem is that it will very difficult to find a dealership that will honor the discount.

When I bought mine I called over 30 dealerships and none of them would honor the discount. I called the GM Employee Services and they said that the discount is voluntary and that they could not make any dealership honor it. Moreover, they couldn't even tell me a dealership that would.

I paid full price, and the permagrin quickly makes you forget about the extra $$.

GMS (employee) pricing is dealer participation, and it is far a few between. When my dealer did it, he did it on a 3 day window, they expected a rush, but they forgot to advertise it. I was the only one that took advantage of it during those 3 days. In fact, I was day 1, signed and sealed 5 minutes after they opened. It works out to about 9% just on the base MSRP. It pretty much takes you down so the taxes bring it back up to MSRP, but you do save. Going to talk to my dealer this weekend, he still has several on the lot, I’ll ask him to let me know when and if they do GMS again, then I’ll post a head up for anyone interested.

It seems the large lawsuit over the pricing differences between Canada and the US is not having a difference on MSRP yet.

Your $10k quote is quite a difference! Especially since our dollar is worth more than the US $ by almost two cents at this time.
