Off to the TOTD

Well Laura and I are off to the Tail of the Dragon tonight. Stopping in Windsor and will cross the boarder in the morning. We hope to be in Tennessee tomorrow night. We'll do the run on Sunday and then head home.

Oh wait...my wife wants to go to Dollywood...Hmmm...not sure about that.

BTW if you see a red Sky with SUMR SKY Ontario plate be sure to honk or wave.

Several things you need to know.
crossing at Windsor is a pain in the a**, you can cross at Sarnia (blue water bridge) It is 15 minutes faster.
there is construction on I75 below detroit both lanes closed, make sure you have GPS on and make your way around it without going all the way out to the airport, this add about an hour to your drive time.
Where are you staying when you get down? Wish you had of said something...would have come over and run the dragon with you.....
if you need info I am PM you my cell number, just call and let me know you got there, you really should go to Biltmore while you are down..

Good suggestion Chili. Biltmore is a great place to visit if you have an extra day. And the drive from the Dragon to Asheville on the Blue Ridge Parkway is really nice, too.

Thanks for the info. I think this will only be our first run... I'd like to come back next year with a group. I'd love to see the house but I don't think it will happen this year. Not enough

I got the pm first and didn't quite understand. Sorry. I though you were sending your cell number to someone. I explained to my wife that I really didn't know why a women from Guelph was sending me her cell number. LOL

How are things going for you down here btw?

We will be doing a run to Niagara on the August long weekend. Long way to go but if you are up that way we can always use another SKY.

Hey Rick, YES I sent you my cell. First it is just in case you had car problems or got stuck down here. And if I had of got your PM last night I would be there today to meet up with you. I figured I missed you and you didn't get my cell #.I am only 2 hours from the DRAGON. Too late to get there now and meet ya.

You are going to love the Dragon, remember if you see people on the side of the road taking pictures wave at them, then make a mental note of time and who was in front of you. When you get back home, wait until WED or THURSDAY and go onto k i l l b o y . c o m - Your High Quality Photos from*the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and your picture will be there to buy. Also remember the LEO's out in full force there.......DONT CROSS THE YELLOW LINE WHILE DRIVING THE DRAGON.......have fun today......

I will be home August 8th and 9th for a wedding, would have love to meet up with everyone but I will be one week off.....

Send us pictures when you get home to Toronto....

If you think the cell number is hard to explain, you should try explaining boxer shorts with glow in the dark lizzards on them.

The tail was Great! There were lots of motorcycles and lots of LEO's. It was a long trip, but, I want to do it again next year. Perhaps we can arrange to have a group go down. I know there was a Sky run down there a couple of weeks prior. Perhaps we could hook up with them.

The state was amazing as well. It was very beautiful. I loved the little of Knoxville I saw. We ended up heading back to Ontario through Virginia. We went through a small town called Paint Bank. The roads through there were amazing as well. I'd like to go back there in the day time!

Special thanks to ChilliSky. Your advice was invaluable! Perhaps we can ride together next summer.

All in all it was a great time and I recommend it to anyone who wants a little adventure and a fun drive.

BTW (as chillisky pointed out to me) if you are going down there are several people taking pic's of the drivers/riders. I'm looking for there websites now to check out my pics.

I found a red sky and went cool they got me. Then I looked closer and realized there was something strange about the pic. I didn't have my roof up. Hmmm. And I don't have a black roof. So it would seem I was not alone on Sunday July 20th. Hope you had a good run!

FOR NEXT YEAR, I am hoping to get more Canucks to come down and do TOTD with all of us,,,,,we will be finalizing the date for next year very soon. I would encourage everyone to book a room as soon as we post the dates.....will go into that later.

Rick I am so glad you had a great time, you needed some extra days down here. Maybe next year you can come to the Dragon and spend most of the week, lots to see and do here.

I also thought that I might come up later in the year if you got a group togeather and talk about the Dragon and some of the other events we are having down here, including the Mrytle Beach one in April.

I can't wait to see pictures

Kimberly (former Guelph On resident now a southern DRAGON TAMER!!!!!) LOL LOL
