Undecided Help Me

Well i have been here for while! Im only 24 and we all know Canadian fellow that our Sky is way more expensive in Canada.......

Here's my dilema. I could get a 07 Redline with no rebate even if the 2008 are out or wait couple week and get the 2008 my dealer promise me at the 2007 price.

BUT here is my problem its way more expensive than the Solstice. I found a GXP REd with 8000 km for 29500 30000 Canadian....im tempted. My heart say Sky REdline brand new but my head ( and wallet ) say grad the used GXP.

OK im on a Sky's forum but oh well i dont know what to do! The Sky RedLine would fit me better since im more into europeen style. But its a lot more expensive. I have in my plan to keep the car really long. Anyway we have another practical car. Im scared to go with the Solstice and when i'll see a Sky starting to cry! Dont get me wrong the Solstice is good looking but when your heart feel like something should i listen to it?

Do you think later the Sky will have a better resale than a GXP?
Thanks you!

You are in the US quite often...pick up a used Sky in the States for the same price as that GXP you found. You only need the title to bring it across the border, you will be able to get that no problem.

How hard is it to get that title?

I too was tempted by the Sol, but I decided I'd be happier in the long run if I waited for what I wanted, and I think I am. A guy who works two doors down from my office bought a Sol last Spring because he didn't want to wait for a Sky, and the first thing he said to me when I followed him to his office was, "that's the car I really wanted!" Now he's looking to trade it in for a RedLine.

The Sol is a great car, but if you really like the Sky that much more I'd say get what you want and make yourself really happy- especially since you plan to keep it for a long time.

Go with what you really want.

Confusious say: Better to spend 100% and be happy, than spent 75% and still want!

You might save that $10k, but in a year you will have nothing more than a few token mods on a car you really didn't want.

I've been there before, I settled for something and I regretted it.

But it is your money and we are only giving you the advice you asked for.

If you like the SKY, you need to get the SKY and not the Solstice. You will be kicking yourself otherwise.

The idea of picking up a used SKY in the U.S. and bringing it back should be quite attractive to you. That would seem to have a lot of advantages.

Go with the heart not the wallet.

I wanted a Yellow turbo stick shift SKY but I could not wait 18 months. So, I am driving a very, very nice Midnight Blue stick shift fully loaded no turbo which I got within a week.
Do you want to guess what my heart wants?

MRBLUSKY.

If you are going to keep it for a really long time, then by all means get what you really want. If you keep it for ten years and pay an extra $10,000 for it, that comes out to less than three dollars a day. Think about what you would spend on food and gas and rent, then decide if it would be worth that extra three dollars a day to be able to look in the garage and see that fine car everytime you go out there...

On the other hand, if you say that you'd rather put three dollars a day in the bank, then get the cheaper used Solstice.

Well then maybe you should pick up an Opel GT! How are those priced with VAT versus the SKY in Canada? So many possibilities...

I have been a fan of Rowan Atkinson since he emerged as a young comic in the late 70's, early 80's. Mr. Bean is by far his best character.

The price discrepancy between the US and Canada based on the current exchange rate might end up being a final deciding factor for me. That, having no money left after my new house, and the price of gas, is starting to give me serious doubts about whether I'll be getting a Sky at all. So I have for you!

But, for what it's worth, if I were in your shoes, here's what I think I would do:

1) Skip the 2007 RL, rebate or not. My '96 Sunfire is from the second year that they made those and it's still going (relatively) strong compared to a '95. Like software, avoid v1.0 unless you're a "bleeding edge" kind of person.

2) Since you're on this forum, you're obviously not a Solstice person anyway. There's, like, five times as many Solstices on the road compared to Skys so you'll get more attention. Plus you'll no doubt be happier.

3) Since you plan on keeping the car long term, resale value is almost a moot point.

4) CdnSkyGuy might be right. See if you can get one from the US. I have no idea how easy/difficult that would be. But the cost difference is substantial enough to make it worthwhile.

5) If all else fails, flip a coin. If you then think "I wish it would have landed as _____", turn the coin over!
