Lifting adapters.

Hey Norm
These adapters are the same ones they use on the corvette? Do you know where I can obtain the front adapters so I can have a complete set? I would like to do work on my sky by myself but I'm afraid to lift her with an ordinary floor jack without the adapters after hearing all the horror stories .

Adapter

Hi Tom..

The Only Thing That I Use For The Front On My Sky Was 2 Piece Of Plywood That I Cut At The Right Size. The Adapters For The Rear Was The Most Important Ones Because They Sort Of Fit Inside The Rear Frame...

They are the same on the back. If you want cheap lifting adapters, use hockey pucks....Skip...Saves all kinds of money...

Do a search on BMW lifting pucs. There are some made out of a black plastic that twist lock in place and work on our SKY's. They are about $7.00 . The same ones will work on the front with part of the puc hacksawed off

Hockey pucks are cheaper. Plus if you live up north during winter can be used to play hockey. During summertime can be used as a frisbee device for dogs to catch. Also can be used to chunk at cats that get to close to the Sky or some kid that pulls up next to you at a light and wants to race. Smacks the stupid kid in the head and knocks some sense into them...Skip...I know I am warped....

Of course if you want to make no marks on the underside and don't have hockey pucks around, you can try a dead rat. It works rite gooder an all on tha jack an when you make contact with the underside you can tell because the eyes be bulging a smidgen. Now you just jack up the Sky until you get it as high as you want. Of course the rats can only be used once. So it might behoove you to buy pucks and have them on hand ....Skip...I am so full of something I call ideas but other people call ....

They should fit on a low profile jack. How many inches on top of the low profile jack that you have? Then go look at a hockey puck and see if it will be the same size or a smidgen smaller...Skip...

They are the same all around. Hockey pucks are ok if you cut one side flat to face the rocker panel. But these are nice because they have a peg that fits in under the car for better fit. I use hockey pucks uner them for extra lift.

I bought a set (4) off ebay for 14.95 w/ a pouch. Hockey pucks with the eye loop made for vettes. A sound investment, they now reside in the trunk of the sky.

Hate to bust everyone's bubble but I cut pieces of lumber to fit. When I jack the car up I put the wood on top of the jack stands. I have done this with no trouble. And save the pieces for the next time. Didn't cost anything ether.

You keep the wood in your trunk??? I hate to burst your bubble, but what do you do if you get a flat away from home, Joe Blows tire repair will not have lifting pucks or custom cut wood. If the wood fits in the truck and you are not worried about it slipping or the wood SPLITTING than great. Some of us are not worried about spending a few buck to buy something custom made to keep our cars safer. They are $60 a set for machines metal ones that fit into the slot under the car frame..not bad.

But then again some people would replace a shoelace with twine, hey it is cheaper and works why not!

Lifting Pucks

I ordered the one on ebay at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=130148706194

Looks like they'll work on front and back!

I'll let everyone know how they work.

Ordered 1 standard puck and 1 flat puck!

On the use of Hockey pucks, I would only use Canadian made pucks for use in cold weather climates and keep them in the freezer until you are ready to use them. Makes more of an impact on the stupid kid too!!!
