You need to put the url to a valid image URL between the [img] tags.

Oh, i see, thanks. So this can't be done for local images on my machine? (i.e. all images embedded within posts must be located somewhere on the web?)

You are correct. Because the files on your machine are technically not on the internet. However, if image uploads are on you can upload the image as thumbnails.

Cool, thanks for your help brentil & Troy!

So can I deduce from your post that "image uploads" are not currently on? Will "image uploads" be turned on in the near future or are these off permanently for a reason?

I was actually trying to do exactly that (thumbnails embedded within a post) but couldn't figure out how. I thought I saw this somewhere in our forum but perhaps I'm remembering posts from the Solstice Forum.

It might be a good idea in the Help section of our forum to have step-by-step tutorials with screenshots of "How do I _____?" for all the message posting features. Uploading images, hyperlinking, etc.

Can the default text inside the text field (when you click on the "Insert Image" button) be changed to "http://" instead of being left blank so it's more intuitive?

Image uploads are turned on. When you make a post there is a button with something like Manage Attachments on it.

Click that and you can upload a pic from your machine.
