Sounds like a fun time, thanks for posting. Hope the weather holds out for you, if it does I'll try to make it.

Hey R1chy!

I don't know if 39 and windy is to your taste but I'm still going. If you are, it is a pre-register and pre-pay event. Follow the links (several deep) to the myautoevents.com page to register before tomorrow (Wednesday) midnight. There is one other Solstice GXP going and another owner will be there but his car is in the shop.

Maybe...

I still hope to go, but if I do I will just be watching this time since I can't get my act together fast enough.

Make sure you post pictures and results after the event.

Good luck if I don't see ya.

RobL - A buddy and I plan to brave the 30 degree temps and drive up to the event. What time is your race?

Cooooooool....

That was great, I like the bumper cam the best (esp the last two turns and the late departed cone).

Even though I saw the course layout it was hard to figure it out from the video. It looks like it warmed up some after we left, did the wind die down some for you? I also noticed Rusty's Solstice at the end of the last run, how did he do? What were your times? I can also see all that rubber the Mustang's left on the track, those guys were all over the place.

Thanks again for posting, my buddy and I had a great time.

The third run, the video from behind the driver, was my fastest - 60.2. Like I mentioned over on the Sol forum - an alignment and more tire pressure is needed - you can hear the tires complain everywhere. Both are planned.

Rusty only had one on course run. I didn't ask his time. I ended up third for the day, behind a couple of Evos.

The Mustang was a couple of guys having alot more fun than we usually let people get away with. They are great drivers and are usually more "competition" minded. Even being all over the place, they were still putting up decent times.

great videos, looks like tons of fun. Definitely interested in an autox solo event somewhere a little closer in my area. I think there was one in PA somewhere.

One little question. How/What did you use to attach your camera for each of the 3 angles? I've been wanting to make videos of my redline, but can't quite figure out a way of safely securing my digital camera so it won't fall, or scratch/damage my car.

I have a mount from http://www.chasecam.com . A picture is attached below for when I mounted it on the bumper. You need a second attachment point to use a camera. I hooked some nylon rope around the camera hand strap and then to points within the car.

Depending on where in Jersey you are, there could be several autox locations. Philly Region SCCA autocrosses down by Philly International, Ripken Stadium (Aberdeen), and then in Warminster PA. South Jersey autocrosses at Atco and Northern Jersey at Englishtown. I've autocrossed everywhere I've listed and by far the best place is Warminster.

wow, thank you

I do plan on autox my redline, most likely at Englishtown, it's the closest to me, about a 40 minute drive. It's a great place in general, and I thought they had autox there, just wasn't sure. I'll be there for the drag as well.

Englishtown is a nice place. The pavement they're using is getting a bit old and broken up. If/when you were going to head over there, shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can join you.

All the local autocrosses get their events listed here: http://www.autox4u.com/schedule.htm . Check there for events and times.

hmmmmmmm, every saturday at englishtown. Only $30 for SCCA members or $40 for non members. Count me in. I'm seriously thinking of becoming a SCCA member. If I read it correctly, it's only $20 yearly for Northern NJ residents. Not bad at all.

Englishtown is also planning the opening of a road course. Set to open this year, it's already been planned out and the beginnings of paving have started. Here's a video of the whole course.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpT9-3KRrJw

I hope they plan to have this open for public use.

I'll definitely drop you a line before the first event, I'll most likely go. Just gotta find a helmet now, heh heh.

I don't think you read that correctly. That is the calendar. Under each date, will be a list of organizations having events that weekend. Right now, only a handful of organizations have schedules released. So on Feb 4th, Philly Region is having an event in Aberdeen but on Feb 18th there is nothing scheduled. Northern New Jersey has released dates but they are not final yet - they don't look like every Saturday but there are a lot of events.

The cost to join the SCCA is usually a little more than $20. I'm paying $85.

Yeah, the site isn't set up very user friendly. I tried to get the most I could out if it, but yeah, guess I'll have to re-read it slowly.

Ah yeah, i see now. It's 60 plus regional fee (N NJ is 20, that's where i made my mistake)

$80 isn't bad at all either, considering all the discounts you get.

Hmmm........I may have to go to aberdeen on Feb 3rd for that event. You gonna go?

EDIT: crap. I work that day, maybe the next one.

Yep, I'm planning on going to that one barring any acts of god (bad weather is grouped into that) or my wife has something better for me to do.
