Brake Pad Info for the Club/Road Racer

Thought I'd share this info from Solsticeforum:

The part numbers for the Cobalt SS/SC or ION Red Line front pads that fit the Solstice appear to be p/n 22705327 available through a Chevy dealership, a Saturn dealership, or through GM Service Parts Operations.

The Saab 9-3 pads that should be compatible with the Solstice rear pads but are a more aggressive material appear to be p/n 93183140 available through a Saab dealership or through GM Service Parts Operations.

Regarding brakes and performance pads:

According to www.braketechnology.com
http://www.braketechnology.com/car.html#chevrolet

Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged 04 - frs139 frs140

on the PagidRacing page. These are the shape numbers - they do not have a picture for the FRS140 rear pads, and apparently are not available.

FRS 139 is here, though:
http://www.braketechnology.com/ERS651-WVA08125.html
2nd pad down on right column.

To get the pads, contact a racing vendor (such as hrpworld.com) - you will have to talk to them directly and give them the shape number, and tell them the compound (the grand am cup car uses RS-14 Pagid material) and they will contact the supplier to get the pads. They have to be special ordered.

Another source for the Pagid pads is http://www.livermoreperformance.com/...ads.html#Pagid
Their picture of the FRS140 pad is incorrect. This rear pad is common with the Saab 9-3.

From what they say, this is stop it, stop it clean, or wear 'em out.

These are the best pad out there for aggressive street driving and occasional track days, IMO.

Hawk HPS Street Brake Pads

They cost a little more than the HPS but they are a kinder, gentler street only pad. $73 front $63 rear.

Rears are in stock as they are the same pad made for a lot of cars. Fronts however are out of stock, they are a totally new pad shape so availability on all front pads, regardless of manufacturer, for our application are going to be very limited probably until spring or summer.
Fronts are $70 a set and rears are $62. Right now rears are in stock and the fronts are on backorder.
