Chicago Region SCCA Learning Curves
This is a bit late, but I was slow to get the photos uploaded to my album. Somehow I talked Showgal into taking her Sky out to this SCCA event, as I attended it years ago and still apply the driving techniques I learned. Well luck had it that the school still had a couple openings after registration, so I was able to sneak back in for a repeat and we ran the Redline as a dual-driver car.
I was happy to get some seat time in a proper RWD roadster as my autocrossing experience was previously limited to AWD and FWD cars. I drove most of Day 1 in 'Competition Mode' but noticed the car still applying the brakes in the front to straighten out the car; we figured out how to completely disable all assists and on the second day I was steering the car with my right foot ![]() All-in-all it was a great weekend, the best weekend weather in Chicago yet this season, only a couple minor "it'll-buff-out" scuffs in the rocker panels from killing a few cones, and plenty of fun. She was the fastest driver in the entire Ladies class on both raw and index time, and she also put the pressure on me. I was forced to run a clean lap on my last run in order to beat her time, which I pulled off (so I can at least keep my man-card). We had the only Kappa there, and as usual many other attendees commented on how much they liked the car. Here are a couple photos of the owner at the wheel: And and couple of me, throttle-oversteering into the finish gates and killing some cones ![]() Last edited by shadrach : 05-16-2008 at 11:01 PM. |
